Is fantasmic worth seeing? We have resevations at Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic package, but i have heard that H&V is not a good place to eat. Is it worth eating there just to get the VIP tickets for Fantasmic? We have never seen the show so any suggestions would be helpful!
Also, mama melrose is already booked, so that is not an option

OMG... Fantasmic... you definetly have to see it..... Some people say If you don't see Fantasmic, it's like you nver been in disney..
It's amazing... the best show they have.. and it's soo incredible how this same show has been for a long long time.. so now it's like a classic!!!

Everyone has different tastes. I don't care for the show. I think it is boring, to tell the truth.

I love Wishes and Illuminations, but wouldn't sit through another showing of Fantasmic if you paid me. Unless you were paying me a million dollars or something. :rotfl: But I wouldn't do it for $100, that for sure.

I love Fantasmic!!! It's my second favorite nighttime show (behind Wishes).

i don't care for fireworks in general, so i can leave wishes and especially illuminations far behind.

love, love, love F!. i try to see it at least once per trip.

i don't like where the dining package sits you though. i'm usually within the front 3 rows center.

i actually decided against a disneyland trip earlier this year because F! was on hiatus.

I agree a little bit with everybody. I think some parts of Fantasmic are boring (the projections on the water) and some parts are great (the barges with the princesses are the best!) I definitely think that it's worth seeing at least once, and I go every time I'm at Disney, despite the fact that I don't care for some parts of the show. As for H&V, most people hate it, but I actually really like it. It's your basic buffet, and the food is a little boring, I guess, but I didn't find it to be bad at all. I also really like the theming of the restaurant (it looks a lot like a 50's diner with lots of chrome and pastels).

Fantasmic is awesome! It's a definite must see! However, you do not need the package at all. I have never done it and have had no problems at all getting good seats. We usually head in 45 minutes before show time, get our seats, one of us gets some snacks no problem! There are CM's also walking around selling snacks.

We did the same thing last year because Haunted Mansion was down while they removed the holiday overlay. Never been to DL yet, and I am not going to miss HM, Pirates, or Fantasmic. When we plan the trip, if any of them are down, we will change the dates to when they are running! :)

I love Fantasmic! I don't think I could go to Disney without seeing it.

You don't need the dinner package. You will need to arrive at the theater at least 45 minutes before the show to get decent seats... maybe an hour, depending on the time of year.

You should definitely check it out if you have not seen it before.

We did not see Fantasmic but we had the character lunch at Hollywood and Vine and I thought the buffet was fine. Nothing special but nothing terrible either - my DH actually liked the food better there than at Chef Mickey's buffet.

(and that's coming from a guy who gets his butt kicked nightly aboard the columbia in disneyland.. when the show is running that is)

I have to say that Fantasmic may very well be the single best thing that WDW produces, as far as attractions/rides/shows go. It's unbelievable, and it never gets tiring.

I encourage anyone who visits The World to see it.

I also think it's a must see. We've NEVER done the dining package. You can bring food in, so had we not have the DDP last time, we would have gotten CS dinners and brought them into the theater to eat while waiting for the show to begin.

The VIP seating in off to the side. As long as you get to the Hollywood Hills Ampitheater about an hour to half an hour before the show starts (of course, depending on the crowds) you can get good seats near the middle. H&V has definitely gone downhill since we started eating there. Maybe you could try Sci-Fi or 50's Prime Time. Both (I believe) offer the VIP seating, if you still want to go through with that.

But Fantasmic is a MUST!! I can't miss it when we are down there. I have to see it altleast once every trip! We actually had to skip it on our latest trip because of bad weather, and I was devastated! And we didn't have another chance to go see it.

F! is my favorite night time show, but the dinner package is not needed. As long as you get there about an hour ahead of time, you should be fine. If you do the dinner package, you are not required to sit in the dinner package section. If you get there and there are nicer seats available, you are certainly welcome to move. Also, just an FYI, dinner package seating and the VIP section are not the same. The VIP section is the last 4 rows or so of the Mickey section which is the center of the theatre. Very nice seats.

It doesn't get any better than Fantasmic. We love Wishes and Illuminations, but Fantasmic is simply incredible. It is a MUST see.:thumbsup2

Agreed. Wishes and Illuminations are firework shows.

Fantasmic is a show WITH fireworks. Big difference. An incredible difference.

We love F! and love H&V. My boys were disappointed that we didn't do the dinner package there this year. It is also offered at Mama Melrose and The Brown Derby. We didn't do it this year and walked right into F! 40 mins. before showtime and got great front row seats off to the left. The dinner packeage seats are to the right of the center. My boys wanted to get wet this year and it was great. But, I did miss the Spoon Cornbread at H&V.
