Question about FAFSA.

Now that my son has been accepted to the college he wanted, we are going to start the whole financial aid process. My oldest went to our local community college so we just paid without any aid (it is affordable).

I really don't think we'll get any aid with FAFSA. Will we have to fill that form out every year?

Yes you need to fill out the form every year but you better hurry for this fall, the deadline for getting your paperwork in is soon for many states. Even though the forms are a pain to fill out, you could save a significant amount of money doing so and most schools won't award any school scholarships/grants without having the forms completed, even non-need based ones.

Thanks! I have to file by May 1st. We're going on Sunday to the college for a tour and financial aid workshop.

Yes.
Even if you get "nothing", if a scholarship, work-study, whatever pops up & you can't get it because you have not filled it out.
One less thing to worry about.
