hi friends, if my child is 9 years old but his brother is 11 years old. Will DCL allow our 9 year old to join his brother in EDGE? pls enlighten me thank you

No. Sometimes 10-yr-olds can age-up to Edge but I haven't heard of 9-yr-olds doing so. Your kids can be together during "open house" times at either Club/Lab or Edge.

On a cruise last year, our son was a few months away from turning 10 and they allowed him into the Edge. We did have to sign some sort of waiver or something.

thank you, will write an appeal to DCL and i will share their reply thanks
DCL will not grant an exception in advance. IF an exception is given (big IF for a 9 yr old) it will be decided onboard by the Edge staff based on 1) the number of 11-14 yr olds onboard, 2) how many 10 yr olds are onboard and may want to age up, and 3) the maturity of your 9 yr old to be in a low-supervised come-and-go situation with older kids.

It is best to prepare your kids that they will be split up for club time except during open house times.

Activities your kids can do together instead of the clubs:

Movies
Sports deck/mini-golf
Character meet & greets
Mid-ship Detective Agency or Triton class version
Towel-folding class
Craft activities noted as “all ages”
Usually 1 bar onboard has board games available during the day
Pool (I strongly advise adult supervision)
Family excursions

Check the Navigator for activities noted as “all ages”

It is the rule. I am shocked to hear any 9 year was allowed in (I would think a CM could get in serious trouble for that). They will both be able to make their own friends at their clubs and can still do plenty of things together.

Was he 9 or 10? In another post you made, you said you signed a wavier for your 10 year old last year to go to Edge...

He was a few months away from turning 10. It makes sense what was mentioned above about CMs assessing each child to waive a younger kid into the Edge. My son is pretty mature, well behaved and very tall for his age, so maybe they felt he'd fit right in which he did.

Chances are it was a less busy time of year with relatively few 11-14. AND he was probably within weeks of turning 10.
