Question about ECV rental company.

I was in Ak in May when a couple from the UK approached me and asked where I purchased my ECV. He was driving a rental just like my scooter. I had a nice chat with them. He was complaining that he couldn't take his scooter on the bus and as a result, they had to rent a car. I was about to object and tell him all about riding the buses when I looked on the side of his scooter and printed in big letters was something like "May not be taken on buses" or words to that effect. Has anyone heard of this before and if so what company rents with that stipulation?

There is one model I know of that cannot be taken on buses. It is known as the "Dream" model. It is gigantic, and exceeds the ADA limit for mobility devices on buses. The ADA has prescribed a limit for length, width, height, etc so that tie down devices can be effectively created. It may be that his scooter is that model and does not fit in the space created for mobility devices safely.

What scooter do you use? If I am not mistaken, it is the same one that I use, Pride Go-Go Elite Traveler Plus. If this is the case, I have not heard of that before, and see no reason that it couldn't go on the bus, unless it is just a policy that company has.

You are correct, I use the same as you do except I have the HD model. The UK couple had your model. I guess it was some crazy policy of the rental company. I wish I had thought to ask which company, but I was just so surprised.
