Question about ebates

Ebates is just a shopping portal. You would be booking your cruise with one of their partners (Orbitz, Expedia, etc.).

I booked a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas earlier this summer through Ebates, on a day when booking a cruise through Orbitz was the "daily double" deal for 13% cash back. The base price of the cruise was $4135, before port taxes and fees. And now I have $537.55 rebate pending.

Holy Crap! What a deal. I think I would be to scared to book a cruise through Orbitz though. But with that deal, I might would just chance it. I know you would'nt get the money till after you cruise, so when is it? Would love to hear the outcome of this after you cruise.

My husband has some travel to do before the end of this year and I was thinking about going through Ebates to book with Hotels.com. Didn't do it for his trip next week, as I didn't think about it, but he has 3 more before the end of the year.

I am assuming that I would have to pay the entire balance when I booked it rather than him pay at the hotel when he arrives. I thought about going back and cancelling his current reservation through Hotels.com and making it again through Ebates and Hotels.com but think hotel is booked up. If I do this for next month, could I earn Ebates money and Welcome Rewards both? (And I get 1% from my Disney Visa too) His next trip is around the first of October so I know I need to go ahead and make a reservation somewhere.

I just don't want to pay for it in full and may possibly not have the money reimbursed from his company in time for the payment.

Yes, my understanding is I won't get the rebate until after the cruise, which is not until next August. But I can clearly see the rebate pending in my Ebates account. So I'm okay with that.

I was a little reluctant to book the cruise through Orbitz, but the cash back was better than any OBC I would have gotten from RCI or a travel agent (even after paying the Orbitz booking fee of $24.99.) I also timed it perfectly to combine with a great sale from RCI. Since I booked, the price has gone up almost $1500. My only misgiving about this booking is my inability to communicate directly with RCI - but then again, I haven't really given Orbitz the chance to help me. I will wait until we get closer to sailing date to make requests for bed configurations, etc.
