Question about DVC Sales Tour

I've read somewhere that if you take the DVC sales tour that Disney representatives will pick you up from your Disney resort and take you to the place and then back - I also read that they give you complementary things like dinner vouchers? Is any of this true?

My DH and I are renting some points for Old Key West (first time to see a DVC resort) and I have been oooohing and ahhing over the DVC since I was a teen. Now that we are getting to the point we may be able to buy we've decided to take a DVC tour while we are there in Oct. :earsgirl: and I just wondered what all to expect. I did see that it is not high pressure and should take a couple of hours?

Thanks! Brandy :earboy2:

I would just stop by any of the DVC kiosks in the parks (I definitley rememeber that there is one in Disney-MGM as well as one right in front of the Hoop-Dee-Doo review Theater).

The person staffing the kiosk can set up your appointment as well as transportation.

When you get there they have you sit in a waiting room that has these sort-of scrapbooks with outside articles talking about how great DVC is. Then you tour the demo units. Then you go with your guide to a conference room and discuss the amount of points you might be interested in, trading opportunites, financing options, etc.

Its not super high pressure, but we didn't end up purchasing until a year after our tour. And in my opinion, while not "high pressure" it was maybe a little akward when we said we weren't buying. We were left alone in the conference room to think about it, it was a long 10 minutes.

When we booked the tour with the kiosk person they mentioned that we could get all-purpose fast passes to make up for lost park time after the tour. But it was lunch time when we finished and our flight was in 3 hours so our guide actually offered us meal vouchers instead and we had a great lunch at the ice cream/burger place at BCV.

Disney Cakers...

Yes...Disney will pick you up @ your resort and return you afterwards. My whole tour took about 2 hrs. mainly because I ask lots of questions and was trying to get a good understanding about the "point" system. Yes..I got a lunch voucher.

My guide was just wonderful and very patient with me...absolutely no pressure!! He told me "not to buy today"...go home...think it over...call if you have questions... WOW...so UNLIKE a salesperson!! :flower:

I instantly knew there was NO hidden agenda..and totally trusted what I was hearing! ::MickeyMo Yes...I went home with much reading material..did my homework...then called my guide at the end of the week to purchase!!

The current SSR incentive is $8. off per point + not paying the maintenance fee until 2006.

BTW....rumors have it that the prices will rise again sometime this summer!!

I sent you a pm... Did you send for the DVC video??

Best of Luck in whatever you decide!!

Our guide was very mello and they gave us four fast pass cards with I think two uses on each card. They spit out a fast pass for that moment in time so there is no waiting at all! It was very long tour/overview though. (I think we were in there for three hours, but that included purchasing that day). Our older DD was in the supervised play area and we had our youngest DD with us. We were going to lose our priority seating for dinner on the Boardwalk and the guide even had someone go down and pull some strings or something so we could still get in. (This was when the sales office was on the Boardwalk)
