We arrived on 11/6 and left on the 14th. What should housekeeping have been like?

It was our first trip, so we weren't sure, but our bed was NEVER made. (Except by us!) I thought we would get our beds changed and remade somewhere within our 8 nights. We were only left clean linens in a basket, but new towels were hanging on the towel bars.

Plus, we could NOT get our king size remade just right. There were only flat sheets that we couldn't get tucked in to stay in! It's like they were too small for the bed.

We never got replacement sheets for the pull out.

We didn't complain, we just figured we didn't know what was supposed to happen!

You should have had one full cleaning during the time you were there and a Trash and Towel day. The full cleaning should have been on the 9th or 10th and the T&T day on the 13th. For future reference you should probably have called housekeeping and asked for a manager when you found the sheets in a basket instead of on the bed. The beds should have been changed and the unit cleaned on the full day and the towels and soaps etc replaced on both days. The trash should also have been disposed of on both days. There have been many complaints about the sheets not fitting the king bed correctly. They only use flat sheets. I think it has to do with the laundering process. We went on the tour of the laundry a couple of years ago and anything other than flat items would get pretty torn up. Some people bring their own bottom sheets to avoid the problem of the sheets not staying tucked in. I hope your next trip is better from this standpoint and hope the rest of this past one was good. If you are sent a survey request please be sure to mention this issue when you respond.

Was the basket full of clean linens inside your room, or outside? At OKW the linen basket are placed outside the rooms scheduled for service first thing in the morning. The remeain there until housekeeping services the room.

If the basket was left inside your room, then you definately had a housekeeping problem, and should have called the housekeeping manager.

Chuck is right. If the basket was outside your door, housekeeping was still scheduled to come, they just hadn't arrived yet. When you stay 8 nights, you have full cleaning on the 4th day (counting check-in day) and T&T on day 8. It always seems strange to me that they do T&T the day before you check out, but that's how it works sometimes.

If the basket of linens was INSIDE your unit, the towels had been replaced but not the linens, than I think you had a problem. Maybe the housekeeper "forgot" she was doing your unit when she got called away for something else. At any rate, I would have mentioned it while you were there.

This last trip, we had a small issue with housekeeping. When we checked out, I told the folks at the front desk about it, and they wrote down the pertinent information. They said that is the only way they have of knowing the kind of job each housekeeper is doing.

my first post,
Trash and Towel is done on the eighth day in your case so that cleaning the room for the next guest goes faster, with less trash in the room to take out. It works out especially well in larger rooms like 2 bedrooms and grand villas.

I have a quick question. When we stayed for 5 nights in Oct. the basket was outside our door when we left in the morning. We weren't sure if we were supposed to leave it outside or bring it in, so we brought it inside the door. They did come back and change the towels and empty the trash.

Were we supposed to leave it outside so they would remember to come in? What do others do with the basket?

You just leave it outside the door. Housekeeping will bring it into the room when they start their cleaning process.

I hate the fact that they leave it outside the door. We've already seen **** roaches (huge) crawling through them and geckos. When that has happened, I call and tequest new ones and wait to see if they do it!

Our first trip we didn't know they came back to change the sheets so DH and I took the basket in and changed everything out ourselves.:lmao: This last trip we left them and they changed them but didn't replace the soaps and shampoos, I thought that was strange and we ran out of them so I DH and DD used my shampoo I brought from home.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, the basket was left INSIDE the door. I assumed we were expected to change our own sheets. There was almost a domestic over trying to get the sheets to fit!! LOL

I was not asked to do a survey. We asked at the front desk about the protocol, but English wasn't her first language. I don't think she understood what we were asking, b/c she said that we were to change the sheets ourselves. (Or, we didn't understand her!)

I feel like we'll understand better next time now!

Thank you!
