Hi - I have not seen this posted and do not know much about the VGC check-in process. I know that when I stay at WDW, I get my passes for the parks when I check into the hotel. However, when I bought my passes for an upcoming Disneyland trip online and selected the eprint option to save mailing costs, it occurred to me that I may not get the tickets automatically upon checking at VGC. Does anyone know if I can expect to exchange my printout tickets at the VGC check-in instead of standing in line at Disneyland at park opening time?

Also, will the tickets be "credit card" like similar to the WDW tickets that fit in our lanyards?

Thanks!

We own at VGC and it is a great property! We go to DL at least once every year.

Every time we have gone we have been able to exchange the printouts for actual tickets at the resort check-in (Grand Californian, DL Hotel or Paradise Pier).

Last time we went (Feb 2010) we did not get the credit card style tickets they have a WDW, but according to the person that checked us in, they are/were moving over to the credit card style.

If you don't mind, what did the tickets look/feel like, then? Will they fit comfortably in a wallet? I assume they are of some form that is used with a fast pass machine?

Thanks!

I have heard that you can get the tickets with the voucher at checkin, but you can also EASILY change them right at the turnstiles to the parks. They take your printed voucher, scan it, and a ticket pops right out of the machine. It's instant, no extra line to stand in.

The tickets you'll get are the tyvek/paper tickets. About the same size as a credit card, will go in a wallet or lanyard pouch, etc.

One can get plastic tickets for DLR, but only if you get the "souvenir" tickets with a package deal, etc etc. And WDW sells plenty of tyvek tickets, I have them myself, for our upcoming trip.

When I stayed at GCH last year, I got a room package including tickets. They mailed me the actual ticket, UPS signature required. Which turned into a pain because I'm not home during the day. They didn't add it to the room key at check-in like WDW does.

Great info! Just to clarify... I'll need to plan to carry around both a room key and a ticket when I stay at VGC?

Thanks for the info - I don't think I got a package deal... I just used my DVC points to make the reservation. I didn't know about the tyvek tickets. (Honestly, though, I have never heard of them before.) If they are paper, do I need to worry about their destructibility in the hands of my children? Or on water rides? etc.
Thanks again!

Yes, unless it has changed since a year ago. I have an AP at WDW and always carry both, never been a problem. I put both in my wallet or on a lanyard.

Oh yes, I knew you didn't get a package, was just trying to be thorough in stating that there are plastic tickets in existence, but not everyone gets them. :)

Tyvek is the same thing they make WDW APs out of, and I believe the normal tickets. Most think they are just paper, but tyvek is a sort of plastic. YOu see the brand name on the insulation sheets that go just inside the outside walls of houses being built...

DLR has "keys to the magic", which are just hotel keycards with charging ability (and they indicate to the turnstyle people that you get access to Magic Mornings). Tickets haven't yet been added. But it's better than a couple years ago when you had keycard, ticket AND a flimsy and strange-sized piece of paper that you carried in order to charge things to the room and get in for Magic Morning! Now THAT was annoying! :)

Ha! I bet! Thanks for the chuckle! :lmao:

The DL tickets are paper. What we usually do is slide them inside a baseball-card protector when we carry them around the park so they don't get wet and smushed in the kids' pockets. (Though we don't let the kids carry them much for fear of losing them anyway; my nephew will lose any and everything [and has!]. BTW, if you make a copy of the serial number, they will replace the ticket for a small fee with however many days you have left at guest services, so just keep that e-mail.)
Although we are water-ride addicts and also smartphone people so in our pockets is usually a ziploc bag with our android phones, our park ticket, and our room key.
The e-ticket that you bought, just take the printed page to any gate and they will hand you your 'real' ticket that you will carry for the rest of the trip.
