Question about Disney's Magical Express

We're off to WDW next Saturday and will be using DME for the first time. My husband wonders what happens about going through Customs when we arrive at OIA. I thought you just went to the Disney counter and they took care of your luggage but do you have to go through Customs with it? Thank you!

we used this when flying with thomas cook 3 years ago and had to get our bags as normal and make our own way to the DME counter, not sure if this has changed or indeed different operators have different ways of getting you on the bus.

You wll need to collect your luggage to clear customs.

Once through customs you can place the bags back on the belt and go to the ME counter and they will collect the bags off the second carousel or take the bags with you on the transit to the main terminal and take them on the bus with you.

Thank you both. That's makes sense Elise. The instructions I read must refer to the second carousel but it doesn't say that. I think they were written for Americans (who obviously don't need to go through Immigration and clear Customs)! Thanks for the clarification.

Arrival at the Orlando International Airport
As an international guest, if this is your first point of entry into the
United States, claim your luggage and then continue through US Customs.
Once cleared, return your luggage to the carousel to be delivered to the
Main Terminal baggage claim. Next, take the tram from the Air Side
Terminal to the Main Terminal. At this point you may bypass baggage
claim or pick up your luggage. Proceed to the Disney Welcome Center
which is located on the B Side on Level 1. If you arrive on the A Side,
please proceed to the B Side before taking the elevator or 2 escalators
down to Level 1. Follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim
checks to the Disney cast member and confirm the number of bags checked
with the airline and your return flight information. You will board a
complimentary motorcoach to your resort. The motorcoach may make up to 3
stops before arriving at your resort. The length of time on the
motorcoach will vary. Approximate travel time is 40-70 minutes.
Guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Luggage Delivery to the Resort
Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered directly to
your room within 4 hours after you check in at the resort. You do not
need to be in the room to receive your luggage. Please note if you take
your luggage on the motor coach it will not automatically be delivered
to your room. If you arrive in the late evening it is recommended that
you pick up the luggage from baggage claim. Luggage delivery service
provided by Disney's Magical Express is available for flights arriving
between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm daily. For airport arrivals after 10:00 pm,
Guests may collect their luggage at Baggage Claim and transport it with
them on the motorcoach.
