Is this a decent way to save a lot of walking in the parks? For example, if my kids get off Buzz, and are desperate to ride Pooh next, can we just hop the DLRR and get off at NOS, saving a good long walk (and giving all our feet a rest?) How often do trains run in the off season (which is when we are there-first week in May)?

Both my sons are insanely nuts about trains, so they won't mind riding it over and over again, and if it will save steps, I thought it might be worth a few minutes of waiting - thoughts anyone?

Trains run every 10 minutes..they won't save you time really, but to relax a bit yeah then it's worth it:thumbsup2

I think it's a nice, though perhaps not time-saving, way to get around.

BUT if you're feeling like getting on or off at the Tomorrowland station, know that you will be walking right through the smoking section in that area. If you're not smokers, IMO it's an important thing to know and plan for (or in my case, plan to miss).

The train is pretty slow, and spends a few minutes at each stop, so it's not a great time-saver, like GregC said.

It's definitely worth taking a trip around the park on, but you're better off trying to plan (in the loosest sense of the word ;)) your day based on ride proximity. You could spend your whole day going from one end of the park to the other to go on specific rides unless you plan ahead (and make sure your kids know you WILL go on Winnie the Pooh eventually ;)).

And another note...you have to fold up your stroller(s) before getting on the train, just like the tram. For me, that's enough of a deterrent to not take multiple rides on it, but then again, I'm always alone with my toddler there, or another mom and her toddler, so it's harder to fold the stroller, keep tabs on the toddler, and hold my bag at the same time.

A must do for us is to ride the train from (at least) Tomorrowland to Main Street. You can see Primeval World and Grand Canyon dioramas that can't be viewed anywhere but the train. Also the trip from NOS to Toontown includes a sneek peek inside Splash Mountain.

I find it especially useful from Main Street to NOS or from NOS to Toontown.

the train is an attraction all in its self, but the park is so small that you would be better served to walk to pooh....plus for me walking through the park is part of the fun.

When my kids were younger we used the train A LOT like the OP is proposing to do. I didn't have any trouble folding up the (double) stroller. It gave us a nice quiet place to relax! Yes, you might be able to walk quicker... and with little ones, maybe not. Great spot to ride and have a snack or a quick nap. I still use the train to get from say NOS to Tomorrowland (get to ride through Splash Mountain) or Tomorrowland to Main Street (dioramas). Gives me time to sit down!! And just relax and enjoy the day. The Primeval World and Grand Canyon dioramas are awesome. Your kids will LOVE them! :goodvibes

I don't consider it a time saver, but there have been times I've been TIRED and my feet hurt so it was better then walking! I always love riding the train though. ;)

During off season trains run about every 20 minutes. I don't think it is much of a time saver -although my kids do enjoy riding the train.

It was a nice way to see around the park but like everyone else said not really a time saver.

When we were there last fall, the train kept breaking down after we were already on it....maybe I shouldn't ride the train this trip:confused3 ;)

We love the train, sometimes we go around the park several times before getting off. It is a great way to relax and rest your feet. We like to get on in New Orleans Sq with a bucket of popcorn and a diet coke, give the kiddos a snack and just relax for awhile and still feel like we are doing something.

It is a PITA if you have a stroller though. Leave it in the land you are boarding in if you know you will be returning there.

Yep definately not a time saver, but totally a feet saver when you need that rest. Its a great trip around the park anyway when you want to rest your feet a bit but still want to enjoy the whole park.
