Question about Disney Honeymoon Registry

I have a dumb question about the disney honeymoon registry. Does all of the 'gifts' go onto the card as cash to spend anywhere in disney? For instance, I have down that we want the bride/groom ears. Will we actually get the ears, or will we get cash on the card so that we can buy the ears if we decide to? I'm confused.

I have the same question.... do you have to use it for the specific item? Someone got us Chef Mickey's, and we want to go, but what if we decide to go somewhere else? Can the money go towards that or just chef mickeys?

how do you sign up for the registry? One of my best friends who is getting married in May just decided to go to Disney World for their honeymoon and I am trying to give them tips from the board!

You just get one bank of cash to spend however you like.

Okay, sorry to put a spanner in the works here, but I have an account, and with mine you select which items you'd like to go into your registry and people can put money towards those items (and once money is toward an item, you cannot change it) or they can put funds in as "Magic Money", which can be spent around the park, etc. If you've chosen Chef Mickey's as a gift and someone has put money in for that purpose, then as far as I'm aware, it's unchangeable. At least that's what it says on my account.

It still puts all the money in one bucket and lets you spend it however you like no matter what they chose for you! It's really just like a gift card.

I sent that question to the disneyhoneymoon registry site. They sent a response back saying that "yes, it is just put on to your card as cash so you can spend it any way you chose".

Well, that's better to just have the cash, but then why bother going over the registry and choosing at all? We could just select $3000 of Magic Money instead without wasting time on the registry itself.

Maybe disney thinks that people will be more likely to spend money if they think they are buying the couple an 'experience'?

Some people do not like giving gifts of cash, so I bet if they think they are giving you money toward a gift you want, they feel as if they are doing what they want. I talked to my mom about just getting money for the honeymoon and she said that people would rather buy me a souped up blender that I do not need but would like instead of cash. I think it sounds like a great way for me to get what I want without them knowing! Haha!

I have a question about this also. When do you actually get the money, gift card or whatever it is? If you are getting married at Disney do you get it when you get down there before you get married? Do you get it after the ceremony and reception?

We have not scheduled the actual date yet but hoping for early May 2008 so I have not gone on the website yet.

I'm pleased that we can spend the money however we like! I don't have to worry now about who buys different items Are there any restrictions on where you can use them, do we know?

You can use them anywhere that you can use a Disney gift card, which I think is pretty much anywhere.

Did you book your hols direct with Disney? We've booked our accomodation with Virgin hols, so we don't have a confirmation number even tho' weddings dept accepted it ok.

Dee, I've just asked my TA, to find out if we have a Disney resevation number as we didn't book with Disney directly.

I'll let you know what they say.

I don't see why not though, if we are staying on Disney property and Disney can only make money from it I would think they'd be happy for anyone to have a honeymoon registry. Fingers crossed as I really want one of these sparkly cards lol
