It looks as if the dp will cost us about $910 for our stay of ten night w/ one child and 2 adults. Do they add tax? And what is their tax rate? Just trying to budget accordingly before I call... Do they send you anything in the mail then? Or do you not receive anything until you get there? We already got our little book w/ all the confirmations and everything, just wondering if they will have to send me something new if I add to the reseervation? I'm new at this and overwhelmed by all the planning!! lol

Hi!

We were in WDW last November and used the DP. It was really good and saved us quite a bit of money. The cost of $37.99 per person (adult) included the taxes. for two adults for 5 nights, we paid $379.90 upon check-in.

The good thing about the dining plan is that if used well, it can save a lot of money on the stuff that you would normally buy. For instance, we each had 5 snacks and made sure that when we were using the snacks, we used the plan for the $3.50 item and paid for the $2 drink. As it was our first time with the DP, i kept close track of what we would have spent if we had actually paid for it and we ended up saving about $150 for the week on food.

We didnt get anything in the mail, but there is a lot of info online to look at if you want to plan out your meals in advance (Call and make reservations at any table service ---- you will need it)

WDWinfo has quite a bit of info on the plan and was very helpful for planning purposes including the restaurant break-down and some menus.
(click the link at the top of the page under "Dining" to get there) [I cant post links yet :-)]

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! Great advice!

So you have to pay upon check in? Or can I add it before I go and then show them my receipt for payment when I get there? Or would it be in the sytem when I got there?

I'm not sure if tax is included in the $37.99
Florida State tax is 6.5%

You should get a few things if the mail. First you will get your luggage tags. If you've paid, you will get a receipt. You will also get a package with your vouchers for Planet hollywood, miniature golf, arcade, gift cart, etc.

If you make changes, you will likely receive some of those things twice.

We changed our flight teh day after booking, and later added the DxDDP. We ended up getting 2 voucher packs and 3 sets of luggage tags.

You have to pay for your trip within 45 days of arrival.

You could probably "add" whatever you like to your trip once you get there, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd add the DDP before the 45 days just to be safe. I'm sure there are more experienced DISer's here that can verify if this is correct.

My TA told me the DDP had to be added andpaid for by the 45 day mark. I was wanting to add it at checkin and she said that wasn't allowed.

The dining plan has to be added outside of 72 hours from travel and of course, payed for when its added.

We've done the DP twice now and both times had to add it to the reservation ahead of time- but had to pay for it when we checked in. They were not allowing us to pay ahead of time.
We stay on DVC points though- so maybe that is why we had to pay at check in. It may be different for you.
We did not get anything in the mail specifically about the DP.
The DP credits are on your Key to the World card and are redeemed that way.
I think it was a good deal- but you REALLY have to monitor you usage and make sure you are getting your money's worth.
Like a PP said- make sure you pay for your $2 drink oop, and use your DP for the $4 pastry!

I'm not sure when you're going but watch Mid August- mid September as they often offer free dp. We went in 07 and 08 on the free meal plan and in 08 calculated that meals would have cost at least 1350.00 for 4. The only thing we paid for were the alcoholic beverages and tax (16%).
