My DH and his Brother are going for a week of free dining together sharing a room.

I know all of the dining credits are pooled on the card.

However, since the tip is no longer included, we want a clear way to indicate who pays what on the tips.

Our plan is to tell the server they are on seperate checks and having charging priveledges on the room key and have each one of them indicate their tip on their receipt separately and have it charged back to the room separately on each individual room key.

Since each key card has a separate number, they can then get a printout at the desk and each pay their room charges with their own credit card before checkout.

Has anyone done it this way before?? Or will the servers tendancy be to lump them back together since the dining credits come from the same "plan"??

Theoretically (I am only guessing here), they should be able to tell the server that they want separate checks and that they are both on the dining plan. This should keep the seat orders listed separately allowing for proper calculations based on what they ordered. The server shouldn't care (or necessarily know) that they are in the same room, only that they are within the rules of the ordering on the plan.

Rather than complicate the servers' lives on top of having to chase down the room charge detail report and worry about settling the room charge before checking out, I would either switch off on the room charge (one 'pays' tip one night, next one 'pays' tip the next night), or tip in cash.

Another idea is one I did when I went with a close friend a couple of trips back, and we just bought a Disney gift card on arrival (each put $25 on it) and we tipped with this for the whole trip. The $7 or $8 that was left at the end of the trip we spent on snacks for the airplane ride home.

There will be many other things on the room charge besides the tips, so they will need to split up the bill at the end of the stay anyway.

We MUCH prefer to use the room charge rather than flash our actual CC all over WDW. There is less chance of fraud and less chance of a card getting lost or misplaced.

And yes, we use credit cards exclusively because they have more fraud protection on them then check cards, and are more secure than cash.

The room key can be cancelled and replaced instantly, and easily. A lost or compromised credit card is a lot more hassle and takes a lot more time to get replaced.

Thanks for the suggestions, however, I was just wondering if the servers allow for split bills even on the same room "key" or if they tend to want to lump them together.

I'd just take turns leaving the tip, in cash, to keep it simple.

Believe me, if you knew my BIL, that solution would NOT be simple.

He would constantly harp that he paid 6 cents more one meal than my DH did the meal before.

It will be split up EVERY meal using individual room keys, or individual credit cards, just want to know if using individual room keys will be feasible.

Has anyone done this??

I'm not sure if you can still do this BUT I believe at one time you could check into say room 2001 and if your BIL was with you and wanted to use his own CC then front desk upon check in would create an imaginary room like 2001A. They would then have their own keys to the same room but when your DH uses his it would be applied to account 2001 and when BIL uses his then it would be applied to account 2001A. Just get them to 'pay' seperately for their own meals and the tips should be applied to seperate accounts
