I have a Palo reservation for 6PM on my disney magic cruise one night. It is a 3 night cruise and I want to see all the regular restaurants too. Since I have second seating at 8:30 can I go to Palo and my regular restaurant rotation too?

Yes you can. But you will miss the main show

We did just that on one occasion a few years ago. Had our appetizer and salad at the rotation restaurant and then up to Palo for the main course and dessert. Just
let your rotation server know your plans when you arrive.

Also, if you just go to Palo, look to see if the rotation restaurant you missed that evening will be serving breakfast or lunch the next day so you can experience it all.

Yes, you can do this. Unless you have a very big appetite though you won't be hungry after Palo.

The Magic (and Wonder) has a small seating area where people wait until escorted to their table, but there is no area like Meridian. I've never seen anyone using that areas just for drinks, without then going into Palo. But, perhaps they would allow it if the restaurant was not too busy. Of course, the view would be mostly be the reception desk.

You won't want to do both in one night.

Personally I'd book Palo, and then when you board, ask to change your dining reservation to skip Carioca’s. And then go to Carioca’s lunch instead of the buffet on embarkation day. (or book Palo first night, and put in request for dining rotation that starts in Carioca's)

Palo isn't generally a fast meal and its possible you'd be rushing to get to that other dinner seating. and you definitely won't be hungry. I'd skip if its only a 3 nighter and you MUST get to all main dining rooms. Or do Palo brunch instead and save dinner for a longer cruise.

thanks for asking this - i was also thinking of doing Palo but wanted to sit with the kids in MDR earlier. I was just going to have an appetizer while they at their meal.

As a suggestion - don't do the appetizer in the MDR before Palo. It's not a good start to a Palo meal. But you certainly can go and just sit with your kids there, if you wish.
