DD and I are going to WDW for a couple of nights after our cruise but not on the Land and Sea portion. Air is part of our package but we'll go to WDW while other 2 of our party will fly home that day.

When DCL takes your luggage for return to MCO, does DCL check the luggage for you and you don't see it till home airport?

Or do you pick your luggage up on arrival to MCO and then go your way to your airline or whereever? Does your luggage travel on the same bus with you?

Thanks

You need to talk with Disney reps to make sure what goes where .

Make sure they know your plans are not the same as your friends.

We were able to check in with our airline at the DCL terminal. We went to the Delta counter, checked our bags and boarded the DCL bus. The luggage was transported to MCO via box truck by Delta. We did not see our luggage until it arrived at our home airport.

I am not sure of the procedure if you don't check the baggage with the airline counter. I would guess that it would ride on the bus with you. But if your plans are different than mine were, I would check with the DCL reps.

Thanks Denae, that's just the information I needed.

What we'll try to do is pack what we'll need for the extra nights at WDW in a small bag that stays with DD and I. We can have others in our party check another bag of ours to go home with them. Then we'll all go on the bus to MCO and split there. I didn't know that the airlines had check in counters right there at the DCL terminal.

Or DD and I may be able to hitch a ride if there's a DCL bus going to the resorts?

As localdriver says, I'll have to talk more to my DCL contact person.

Remember that you have to have your luggage with YOU when you go through customs after disembarking from the ship.

You need to make sure the right luggage gets on the correct busses. Some go to the airport, some go to the resorts. Once the luggage is on the busses, I'm not sure what happens (we usually have a rental car). The one time (a LONG time ago) that we took the bus back to the airport we had to retrieve our bags from the DCL bus and get them checked in at the airport (the airlines were not comming to the port for back pickups then).

Bottomline, I'm going to have to work it out with my DCL rep for some specifics.

It would be great if DD and I could go to the Resort with the Land/Sea folks but don't know if they will allow that. I also don't know if we've lost our transfer to MCO because we aren't flying the day we disembark. And if we CAN get to MCO after the cruise, don't know if I can set up Magical Express from there since we won't be arriving on a flight.

We may be standing on Pier with thumbs out!

No, I'm sure it will work out in the end.

Will get with DCL and try to figure it out.

People on the land sea package will always do WDW FIRST.....anyone who is going to WDW after the cruise is not really on the land/sea package, but regular WDW ressie. DCL land/sea package always has the land portion first as it makes sense in case flights are delayed they do not have to worry about missing the boat, just delayed getting to the resorts.

But, DCL does have buses that go to the resorts after the cruise....and you can certainly get on one of those. Anyone can check their bags at the port for their flights as long as they have DCL transportation booked, which you do. You could get on a bus with your DD directly to the resorts and the rest of your party can get on a bus to MCO. That way you will save money as you will not have to secure transportation from MCO to WDW for you and your DD.

Hope I did not confuse...just wanted to point out that people going to the resort after the cruise are not a official land/sea package.

Just reread your post....you may have indeed lost your transfer from the port to MCO because you are not flying that day...but all you have do is tell DCL you want to go to the resort instead of going to airport...the cost for the transfer is the same. You would have to find your own transportation from WDW to the airport once your WDW stay is done....Mears shuttle or a town car is your best option for that.

mmouse37, great info! I didn't know land portion of package was first or that DCL would have buses to go direct to resorts that we could opt for. This was a prize that includes transfers. I doubt that Disney would take such a hard line as to not to allow us to ride to the resorts when that's an option for other guests.

As for as the resort -> MCO, I should be able to set that up w/Magical Express so no additional charges there.

Once we get within 4 weeks or so, will contact my Disney rep and try to get specifics and confirm who goes where when and with what luggage!

Thanks Again!
