Question about Custodial?

Quick question regarding the Custodial role during the WDWCP, how is it? If you've done it before, did you like it? If you knew someone who did it, how did they like it? Just weighing my role options. I have already completed a CP in Spring 2011 as Merchandise, but got to see the Custodial CM's at work and they didn't seem to hate the job, so was just curious as to what info you all could provide. Thanks in advance!

After doing merchandise, my roommate was extended into custodial(definitely wasn't her first choice) I think cuz she was sorta forced into it, she had a bad attitude for the first while, but ended up making some awesome friends and liking how lax the role was. She seriously carried a book with her and if she got done with all she needed to do, she would sit in the supply closet and read, or she would sit in one of the smaller break rooms and watch tv. Not saying that you should do that cuz you could definitely get in trouble! I just know a lot of people like it because they have a lot of free time. My friends girlfriend from home just completed a program in custodial and as far as I know she loved it! I never heard her say anything bad about it! Really it's actually a pretty neat role. I personally don't want to do it when I go back in a few years, but that's because I have cleaned way too many toilets already in my life! And too much down time makes time go slower for me.

When I first got custodial I wasn't sure if I really want to do it, but I went anyway. And I kind of hated it at first partly because I was nervous and it was grossly hot haha. but after a while I got used to the routine and it was fine. It is pretty easy and only hard if you get a busy area. I know I loved how free we were, we could walk wherever whenever, as long as you were mostly in your area. and if you have friends working around you it's a lot of fun. you get some horrible things and people but it's pretty funny to tell other people about it later, and you get more appreciative people than you would expect. I don't know what else to say really but I did it for more than 8 months and I liked it overall.
oh! plus if you are offered the chance to learn water art, do it because it's really fun.. even when people don't notice what you're doing and walk over it haha.

I have been accepted for Custodial for this Spring and am super stoked. Everyone I've talked to that did it loved it! They loved the high level of guest interaction associated with that role!

I absolutely LOVED Custodial! I can't imagine doing any other role.
Yes, there is the whole cleaning aspect, but I found I got desensitized to the "gross" stuff really quickly. And once you get past that, the role is SO MUCH fun. You get a lot of guest interaction, which was my favourite part. I did a lot of pin trading, and since I always kept my zone clean, I had a lot of time to just talk to a family, hear stories from the guests and make friends with little princesses and pirates. :thumbsup2

That being said, the role isn't for everyone- I know some people who weren't quite as in love with the role as I was, but I strongly believe that it's all about your attitude!
