question about CS dessert

i've heard that you don't have to get your dessert at the time of your meal for counter service, anyone know if that's true?

Generally you do have to get your entire meal at one time. Sometimes - at the water parks, or when your dessert will be ice cream (which would melt while you're eating the entree), the location will mark you receipt in a special way so you can come back later that day and get the dessert.
