Question about crowds

How bad are the crowds the first week of May? We are heading to the darkside from April 29 - May 7. We will be staying at Cabana Bay (love the hotel, plus being able to book a suite fairly cheaply). I'm think of getting a room mid-week for one night at either RPR or Hard Rock to get two days of EP.

I was there from May 9-13th last year, stayed at RPR, and had no problems. Even if we didn't have EP, we would have had plenty of time for all the things we wanted to do. I liked going in early May, the weather is great and there's low crowds. I've found that checking the prices of EP on the Universal website is usually a good indicator on how crowded they think the park will be; the cheaper, the better!
