Do you put your cordless phone back on the charger after every call? I had a phone for several years and it said in the instructions that it was OK to leave it off for a few days before charging so I did and only replaced the battery once. Then the answering maching feature broke so I replaced the phone. Nothing in the instructions about length of time between charges, so I did the same as I was used to. The battery died after a year. I am having quite a time getting a replacement. I got one from Radio Shack, but it won't even hold a charge through a 30 minute call. So I bought another battery today. It's an AT&T battery that is supposed to work in a few different brands. It's charging now so I will try it tomorrow. At $20 a battery, this is expensive. The phone new only cost $40.

Most often the cordless ones are back in their holder/chargers. It is good to run them down to nothing every so often, if a ni-cad or NMh. Lithium, if it had it, does not need that conditioning. And with the pricing on things today, from a cost perspective, sometimes it is better to get new than replace battery. Strange, but true.

I have had the same 2.4GHz Panasonic cordless phone for 3 years now. Most of the time it stays on the charger and I have never had any problems with it.

We have two cordless phones. Both remain off the base all day and put back to recharge at night. We've had the phones about a year and they're working just fine.

We had one cordless phone a few years ago that we returned because it developed a buzzing - from leaving it on the charging base. The store replaced it and we didn't leave it on the charger full time after that.

Our current phone is off the base until the battery is low and requires a charge, or I leave it overnight only.
