I was just wondering if anyone knew if the concealed pin and the revealed pin in a box were always a pair? In other words, if you buy a box and the revealed pin is, say, Dumbo and you open it and find the concealed pin is Goofy, will Goofy ALWAYS be the concealed pin in every Dumbo box for that set?

I originally thought the concealed pin was random, but I'm beginning to think that might not be the case.

Well for what it's worth, I had been collecting the reveal/conceal Epcot 30th anniversary pin set that was released on February 21st. I found a website (here: Epcot 30th Reveal/Conceal Pin Set Review) that included a pic of the entire 24-pin set, and in the pic all the 'concealed' pins were paired with a 'revealed' pin. I had been wondering if those were set pairs as well.

I ordered two boxes of the pins from the Disney merchandise hotline, and when I opened the first one, it contained the Flower & Garden Festival 'revealed' pin, and the Journey Into Imagination 'concealed' pin - which were paired together in that picture. So I assumed they were set pairs...then opened the second box and got the World Showcase bus 'revealed' pin with the Cranium Command 'concealed' pin, which were NOT paired together in the pic.

So, long story short (sorry!), I'm assuming that the reveal/conceal pins are paired randomly, and it's just a coincidence that one of the boxes I got matched the picture on that website.

That link that you posted was the same story that made me wonder in the first place. It is interesting that one of your pairs did match the picture. I kind of wish someone else would get the Flower and Garden Festival set and see which concealed pin they get.

I ordered a 3rd box of the Epcot pins from the hotline, but it hasn't arrived yet. When it does, I'll post back here if the pair I get matches up with a pair in that pic. :goodvibes

It depends on the series. Some of the older series (like the first Figment one) had matched pairs, so as long as you found all of the revealed pins, you knew you'd get the entire set of concealed pins. More recently, the pairing has been random. For the Epcot 30th set, there are 24-pins, meaning 12 boxes per case. In every case there are all 24 pins, but the pairing is random. So if buy the whole case (as long as it's not opened), you'll get the entire pin set. If you buy individual boxes, you'll get random parings and there is no guarantee that you'll get an entire set even if you buy 12 boxes with different revealed pins.

Thanks for the info. That's good to know. It's a shame they changed it, but I guess it makes sense from a Disney business standpoint.

Even though it seems the original question has been answered...I did say that I would report back when I got the latest box of pins I ordered. And NO, the pair I got were NOT a match to the pairs in that picture (I got the Goofy/Soarin' 'revealed' pin and the commemorative program 'concealed' pin).

Well, I guess that's further proof that the previous statement was true. That's disappointing to learn, but at least you were able to get three boxes with no duplicates.

it does depend on the series. I know the recent carousel princess pins were all consistent...the same concealed pin with with the the same revealed pin. Kinda disappointing.
