Question about checking in with two reservations

My husband and I are traveling with our daughters and have two cabins - one with his name and one daughter and the other under my name and the other daughter. We have two different reservation numbers and whenever I get emails from Disney I get two - one for each. The reservations were made together and when I look online I see both under "My Cruise Reservations" so I think they are linked? My question is, when it's time to do online check-in, will I have to do it for each room or can I do all at the same time for both reservations? When I go book excursions will I be able to do it for the four of us at the same time? What about Palo - since my husband and I have different reservation numbers can we still book that at the same time for the two of us? This is our first cruise and so sorry for my online check-in confusion!

Each reservation will need to have the online check in done separately. However, if both are linked, one reservation can make excursion bookings for everyone (as long as both rooms have the same check in/excursion booking window).

Thank you for the reply! So I guess it is technically possible for half the family to get a different PAT if the one picked for the first reservation was full when I did the second check-in? What about booking Palo? How will that work? Thank you for the help!!

I wouldn't worry about the PAT time. As long as you are checking in back to back, you'll probably be able to get the same PAT. However, if you want to, and you have two computers, each of you can do your own online check in, and then just one of you can do the excursions once you've both finished.

I believe, as long both rooms have the same booking window, you can book Palo for all eligible people between linked reservations.

We had 2 separate reservations also. Booking excursions I was able to do for all no problem, but when I did online check-in they put one room on floor 7 and the other on 8. Wasn't too happy about that.

Did you have GTY or *GT reservations?

I'm not sure what it was called. Rooms weren't assigned when we booked 9 months out. We got assigned rooms 3 months prior to cruise date. Our travel agent did say we may not get placed together but since reservations were linked most likely we would. We did not get rooms together nor on same floor. It's ok though- don't plan on spending too much time in there anyway.

If you did not select a specific room at the time the reservation was made you had a GTY (guarantee) booking. You agree to let DCL place you in any room in the category you booked (or higher). There's no guarantee that they will be next to, close to, or even on the same deck as each other. For the most part, DCL does try to put linked reservations at least close to each other, but it doesn't always happen.

You TA was wrong to tell you that you "most likely would" be placed together just because you were linked.

Yes, of course, two computers, what a good idea! That's why I love this board! Thanks again for all the info!!
