Question About Character Meets

So in all of our trips, we've never spent time meeting characters (haven't even done a character meal). I'm ready for that to change! I know that lots of adults w/o kids meet characters so I'm not so worried about that but I don't really understand how it works. When you make it to the front of the line do you just go in for a hug and then smile for the camera? Will they let you take a selfie before or after the photopass shot? What if I want an autograph?

Finally, my big question that makes me feel like a meanie. What I really want is to meet Tigger. Without the stupid bear who can't even spell honey correctly. Can I ask for a picture with just my favorite bouncy cat? Ask DH to restrain the bear so Tigger and I can bounce in peace? Or do I just suck it up and Photoshop out the undesirable one when I get home?

They'll be happy to let you take one with just Tigger, just ask. As for the way it works, you stand in line, when it's your turn you approach and do whatever your comfortable with (Hug, shake, high five) then they'll take their pics and you can take yours. Often the CM will take a pic of you taking your selfie, which are cool shots too.

Yeah, I did that exact same thing one time - I think it was in Sept of 07- pic with just Tigger, no Pooh. My BIG mistake. For the next 5 trips, we were plagued by rain...I'm talking monsoon rain. I found Winnie over in the UK pavilion and apologized to him. We didn't get rained on for probably 10 trips after that. So just beware of pushing one out of the way for another - the curse of Pooh exists...and it's not pleasant.

I encourage you to do more than just hug, smile, and leave! Try to think of something to say to the character that will get them to really interact with you. When you hand your camera to the photo pass photographer, they'll typically take photos during the whole meet, and the candid shots are usually even better than the posed ones!

If you're into Tigger, he is hilarious at Crystal Palace. As you probably know, he also tends to meet outside of the Many adventures of Winnie the Pooh. (& in Epcot) You can definitely take a selfie and ask for an autograph, no worries!

We were behind a woman who only wanted to meet Tigger in the UK. Pooh got sad so he was hiding in the corner behind some curtains. :(
How can you not want to hug pooh bear? He's so huggable!!!

Thank you all so much! I'm clearly overthinking this but I need SOMETHING to do until April.

Oh no!!! This makes me think I should rethink shunning Pooh. I don't want to be cursed! :rotfl2:

Pooh has always just annoyed me (which I know is terrible since he is a sweet old bear). It didn't help that it was one of my childhood nicknames and I HATED it. And even now, in my 40s, if my mother came across a picture of me with Pooh, I would never hear the end of it.

But I really don't want to make Pooh sad. Even play pouting would make me feel bad (while also being super adorable).

Need to see if I can convince Husband the Grump that a character meal could be fun. Super hilarious Tigger would make me over the moon.

I love Tigger, but honestly, if you see the four of them together you will melt. Each one is such a sweetheart, and they give the best hugs. Why not get a nice hug from Pooh and then have your picture taken with Tigger. We were a group aged 73, 71, 47, 42 and 7 and we all loved them. The thought of Pooh hiding behind some curtains makes me so sad!

I always do a group with pooh and friends and a tigger solo. On the rare occasion Rabbit is there I dis few solos with him. He's my ultimate favorite.
