Question about changing a person on a free dining bounceback reservation

I have a free dining bounceback reservation that I made last September for August 6-15, 2020. I made it for me, DH, DS 17, and DS 14 as my daughter who will be 20 then said she didn't want to take off that much time from work. This is at All Star Sports. It includes a ticket for me as they are required to get free dining, although I don't need one as I have an AP. I believe that even if they offer a good AP room discount, free dining is the best discount for us even with having to buy that extra ticket.

Now my daughter has changed her mind and would like to come. Can I call and get my ticket/room spot re-assigned to her? Then I would just get a room-only in my name. Hopefully in the spring, AP room discounts would be released and I could get that. QSDP for 4 people is plenty for the 5 of us.

Now, my daughter is 20 and changes her mind a lot. If I made the above changes and she then decided she COULDN'T go, could I switch that 4th spot in the room/ticket back to me? Obviously I could just cancel the 2nd room.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Who was in the room at the time the bounce back offer was made in September? was your husband on the reservation with you at the time the bounce back was made? im Asking because at least one of the people who were on the September resort reservation has to be on the bounce back.

In addition to what @starry_solo mentioned, the lead person on the Bounceback reservation needs to stay the same.

Since the max per room at ASSports is 4, I don't see the value of swapping one person for another. You will still need to get a second room. You can just book a room by itself for your DD20.

Another option is to look at rooms that sleep 5 and see if you can switch your room to that. POR, Cabins and CBR have 5th sleeper, although, with teens, young adults and adults, all 5 in a room will be pretty crowded. :crowded: especially having only one bathroom.

In addition to what @vinotinto said, I would wait until a week prior to the payment-in-full deadline date to switch anything (if necessary)

If in the end you still need to have bought yourself a ticket package to get the free food, you may apply the cost of your unused expired ticket to your next AP. I've never done it myself, but have read many posts on this site where others have.

From mousesavers- even if a ticket has expired, if it has never been used, you can still apply its value towards a new ticket.
Keep in mind that you need to keep track of the fact that this expired ticket exists – Disney will drop an expired ticket from your “tickets” view in MyDisneyExperience because it’s no longer a ticket valid for admission or booking FastPass+.

You may find that a Cast Member will insist that the information we give here is all wrong. Our advice is not to argue. You can ask nicely if there’s a supervisor there who can help you understand it better, and sometimes that will help. If not, you can either accept what they’re offering or politely decline to do the upgrade and take the ticket to another Guest Services location or ticket window, where you may get a better answer. Remember that being polite and friendly to the Cast Member raises the likelihood of getting a better outcome.

I forgot to mention. I'm fairly certain that is she decides to stick with 2 rooms as ASSports, once the package date begins, she can reassign her ticket to her daughter. She will not be able to do it before the package begins. This is only an issue if she cannot swap her DD for herself on the reservation and decides to stay with ASSports. For more info on tickets, visit Robo's ticket stickie thread.

DH and I were both there in September when we made the bounceback reservation.

The value of switching my daughter for me is because I have an AP and don't need that ticket, but she doesn't have the AP and needs the ticket. We have stayed at PoR a couple times when the kids were younger and it was cozy then. No way that would work now. We definitely need 2 bathrooms.

Dang, I was hoping for definitive answers, but I guess it's more complicated than I thought!

I really would prefer not to end up with that extra ticket in my name. I understand I could use the value toward a new ticket, but I believe that has to be done at WDW, correct? If so, I couldn't get my 60 days FP even if staying onsite, right? Big drawback.

Lead guest name changes are not permitted:
NON-TRANSFERABLE
Room reservations are not transferable and reservation name changes are not permitted.

Reassigning the FD ticket to DD is fine, but would have to be done after checkin. She would then have no 60 day FP and be at the mercy of the attraction CMs to allow her to ride with you all. This happened to us at Christmas with DS.

Well, blurgh. Looks like maybe putting just her in a room-only reservation (which hopefully I can get an AP discount on) and then getting her an UT ticket might be the way to go.

So what about if I didn't try to transfer the free dining reservation to DD, but instead I just took me off the free dining reservation. DH would still be in that room and he was checked in when we made the bounceback reservation. Then I would do a room-only for me and DD with a UT ticket for DD. That would keep me from having that "extra" ticket also.

Since you are the lead guest, there is no way to remove you from the reservation without canceling it.

You could speak to BB GS about what to do, but they are most likely going to suggest a larger room to accommodate all of you, if available.

OP, the best you can do is to call WDW, ask to speak with someone in Guest Services and see if they will take you off the reservation and make your DH the lead guest without cancelling the reservation. I have done this. The rule used to be that the only way you could change the lead guest was to replace the lead guest with someone who was already on the reservation. I, myself, did this in 2015 when we stayed at GF and more family decided to come fairly last minute and I needed to reconfigure rooms. WDW did allow me to take myself off the reservation and make my sister (who was already on the reservation) the lead. If they will allow you to do this, I would make DH the lead, add your DD and then make your separate room-only reservation. Good luck!

The question is, who is the lead guest in the reservation? Is it you or your husband? Like I mentioned yesterday, the lead person must remain.

If she’s definitely going, call WDW BB line and ask.

I would guess it is me as I'm the one with the MDE account. My husband made the call, though. However, he did have to hand it over to me after a while because he didn't know the answers to some questions. LOL. When I look at my reservation on the website (not app) I am the first listed (furthest to the left of the four people). So does that mean it's me?

It sounds like it’s you, but I would suggest you do what @DisneyWishes14 suggested and call and see if Guest Services is able to switch the lead on the reservation to your DH, so you can then be deleted from it and add your daughter. Let us know how it goes. Good luck
