Question about CBR room locations and rates.

It seems that CBR has a different twist than the other mods that I'm a little confused about. In addition to the standard view and water view, you have preferred buildings in Martinique and Trinidad North. Does that mean you add on another $15 to the standard view or water view rate. In other words, are you paying two additional upgrade charges for water view in a preferred building? On a side note, if you don't need a water view and would be happy with a garden view/courtyard view, but just want to avoid a parking lot view, is there anyway to guarantee that? I'm not aware how you could do that.

Thank you!

Personally a water view is not worth it. If you want preferred then it is an additional $15 per night. There is no way to guarantee that you won't get a parking lot view. CBR is so heavily landscaped it is hard to see the parking lot from a room.

If you don't want a parking lot view, I'd put that in as a room request. Something like "not parking lot view if possible". But - you probably won't see too much of the lot anyway. The buildings are not that tall and the trees are. And Caribbean Beach doesn't have balconies so the only time you would really see the lot is when you come and go from your room.

I wouldn't pay the extra money for a water view. Water view can mean a view of either the lake or a quiet pool. Not worth it to me.

The preferred locations are closer to Old Port Royale and you would pay the extra money for the location. I, personally, would not want to pay the extra money for a preferred location as we like the relaxing walk around the resort. But, if you don't think you'd like a walk, pay for the preferred location.

I would ask the castmember to make a notation on your reservation that you would like a courtyard view. They will tell you that your requests aren't guaranteed but at least your request might get met. I've requested courtyard view twice and have gotten it twice.

As the other posters have said, the landscaping at the CBR is lush so even a parking lot view isn't going to be too bad.

jasper, I'm not sure your original question was answered directly. As far as I know you can't pay to guarantee both a water view and a preferred view at the same time. You can pay an extra $15/night to guarantee that you'll have a water view (which may or may not be in a preferred building - probably not) or to guarantee a preferred building (which may or may not have a water view). In other words, an extra $30/night won't guarantee you both. You have to pick which one you want to guarantee, and express the other as a preference. I agree with the others who have said that a water view really isn't worth it, since Disney's version of a water view could be a corner of one of the quiet pools. The landscaping is very extensive, so even a parking lot view isn't just a vast expanse of pavement - sometimes the parking lot is barely visible through the greenery.

and, i might add that the parking lots are beautiful. They aren't your typical parking lot. You have to walk through them to get to the bus stop, it's a lovely walk.

I pay for waterview at the mods, just to ensure that I wont have a parking lot view. It is all about what is important to you. Sure, I can just request not to have a parking lot view, but Id rather not leave it to chance. As far as I know though, you can only pay extra for and guarantee 1 of the following...preferred, king or water. So I would choose the one that is most important to you and make the others a request.

We paid for waterview and requested a king upon arrival and were not disappointed =)

jaysmom is correct.

Each upgrade category (preferred location, water view, king-size bed) costs between $15-$26 extra per night (depending on season). Believe it or not, Disney will not take your money for 2 or more simultaneous upgrades.

In other words, if it will be $15 extra per night for preferred location and $15 extra per night for water view, they will NOT permit you to pay $30 extra per night for a water view room in a preferred location. Strange but true.

jaysmom has it perfectly ... choose which one you wish to GUARANTEE, and pay for and reserve that, and then request the other and hope you get your request.

CleveRocks - that quote is pretty funny! Thanks also JaysMom for confirming the upgrade question.

One other thing - I have heard conflicting reports that either all of Martinique is now "preferred" room rate, or that only the three closest Martinique buildings are preferred. Can someone clarify?

Thanks.

With kids you would definetly want a courtyard view room(which I guess is now a water view?) From what you've said it's either parkinglot or water? I personally wouldn't want a parkinglot view room. We also preferred a lower level room as you can walk directly through the courtyard to your room, as opposed to the rooms on the second level. There appeared to be more foot traffic going past those rooms as one would have to walk up the stairway and then all the way around in either direction to where your room was located. Just a personal preference we requested lower level. Also if you have strollers and the like you won't have to bother taking them up. With a courtyard view room the kids can rent bikes and use them in the courtyard and you would be able to see them from your room, particulary on the lower level. We also enjoyed having a quick breakfast in the garden areas in the early mornings. I just found the courtyard view wasn't as "motel" like as the view of the parkinglot, and I felt safer. We did stay in Trinidad North..which is close in proximity to the food courty and Old Port Royale..and the main themed pool. We didn't pay for the proximity at that time, but I am aware there is an additional charge for both Trinidad North and Martinique. Personally, I think it's worth it. When the buses pick up in the resort you will also be one of the first stops, which means you will have a seat during crowded periods. I do believe the main themed pool is currently under construction and will not open until September of this year. If you're trip is before then, you might want to consider another moderate resort.
