If I cancel a night out of my reservation and the points were borrowed points, do they go back in the UY they were borrowed from or the current UY. I would be canceling early enough so they would not go into holding.

They remain in the year borrowed into, they cannot be moved back to their original. Are there any current year points in the reservation? If so, they can release those for the night you cancel and you can then bank if you have enough time.

Borrowing is a final transaction, so no matter when you cancel, those points remain in the UY they were borrowed into. If holding is not in play, then you have until the end of that current UY to use the borrowed points.

While they do indeed stay in the use year they were borrowed into, you could ask when you cancel that the cancelled points be taken from your current use year, freeing them up for banking. It's called reallocation.

Thanks for the replies. I cancelled the night in question but booked us 3 nights in March at HHI using those points. Not a bad deal exchanging 1 Saturday night at AKV for 3 weekday nights at HHI. :)
