Question about Canceling Ressie & Banking Points?

Here is my situation, if anyone can give me any advice:

*I booked 2 studio rooms on concierge level at AKV for a total of 206 pts.
*I used 61 current year points (bankable) & 145 borrowed points (non-bankable).
*I may have to cancel one of the rooms & I'd like to get all of the current years points back so I can bank them.
*Since I had to call day-by-day to make the ressies, each room has part current year points & part borrowed points.

So if I need to cancel one of the rooms, is there a way to get all my current year points back? I don't want to cancel and rebook since the rooms are in such high demand, I don't want to loose the other room.

So to all you experts, is this possible?

Yes, MS will usually assist with reallocating the points used for your reservation so that the borrowed points will be used for your reservation and the current points returned to your account could then be banked (based on normal banking deadlines).

If MS suggests that they will need to cancel the reservation you are keeping in order to switch the points, don't let them do that. I'd call back and have a different CM assist. Since all points used will be from the same account, there should be no need to cancel and rebook anything.

Thanks Doc! That is very helpful to know & I'll make sure they don't try to talk me into cancelling both ressies in order to get all the bankable points back .
