Question About Bypassing Front Desk

We have been to WDW three times with magic bands. Each time we checked in at the front desk and, while there, set a four-digit PIN so that we could charge things using our magic bands. For our upcoming trip I did online check-in, and MDE says we can bypass the front desk and go straight to our rooms once we get the text saying our room is ready. Question: when and how do we set the PIN for charging? Or do we use our PIN from last time? What if we have forgotten and need to reset it? Thanks!

I've always used the PIN from last time!

If you've forgotten it, you'll need to go to the front desk ... though Guest Services at the park was able to help me reset it once.

Was part of the test for MB and I have had the same PIN since then, never changed.

But when you do Online Check-in there is a space to enter or edit PIN after you open Show Details.

I've used the same PIN since we first set it up in December 2013 and it does not matter if I'm with the same people that went on that trip or not we all have that PIN now.
My sister chose something that is easy (for us) to remember.

If you recall what your PIN was from the last trip you can use it.
If you forgot you'll have to go to the front desk to reset it.

Be aware that you MAY get a text/email saying your room is ready and giving you your room number and telling you that you can go directly to your room upon arrival but you may not get a text/email or it may not have the info for you so you'll hav eto go to the front desk anyways.

I will say that I have gotten a text with room number and saying I can bypass the front desk all 3 times that I have stayed onsite since its implementation in 2015.

Last visit our text was after 5 at night. We had gone straight to parks upon arrival. Did online and forgot about pin, simple 5 minute stop at guest services and done.
Enjoy ur visit.

If we have 3 rooms (all linked) does each room need their own PIN or is it one for all of us?

I'm a newbie -- can you tell!?

Yep.

I've never gotten the text. Well, I got a text once, but it was 15 minutes after I'd gotten to the resort and went to the front desk. So...was it based on the online checkin or because of the front desknatop? I'll never know.

YOu can use the same pin as before. You can go to the desk if you want to change it, change who can or can't do room charge, or if you forgot it.

We've never changed our PIN associated with our account. As our kids have aged, MDE has prompted me to enter one for their bands, so I have used the same one, but they don't know it. As far as they know, the charge feature is only for adults. :)
