question about buying drinks

My son and I will be in WDW in Oct. We are annual passholders and have the DDE card. My best friend and her daughter are coming with us. They will be on the dining plan. Since alcoholic beverages are not included on her plan is it OK for me to buy her drinks at dinner since I get a discount?

I'd ask when you're there. I know I have used DDP and DDE at the same meal when we ordered drinks, but since you'll be rung up separately, I don't know what they'd do. I suppose you could always ask the server up front to put all of the drinks on your bill?

It shouldn't be a problem. We had one meal last year where we were a party of 7 all together. 2 of us had DDP. The others were a party of 3 & and another couple. They split the bill three ways and gave the DDE discount on the separate checks. Of course there may be some CM's who have difficulty with this but for the other meals where there were just 5 of us we never had any problems either. Just let them know up front who is on the plan and ask how they need to write up the checks to give the DDE discount on the drinks. Most of the CM's have no problem getting the checks right.
