Question about bus transportation

The buses don't have seat belts, do they?

I'm totally put off by this and now I'm trying to figure out what to do during our trips. My girls don't ride in a vehicle without being properly buckled into their 5-point harness car seats. Even next year for our trip, they'll only be 5 years old and just shy of 2 years old. I can't imagine putting them in a moving vehicle without using their car seats.

On the other hand, renting a vehicle for a week to only take us to the resort/parks is going to be expensive (since rental isn't based on miles, it's based on days rented).

I really don't know what to do to. This is a whole other issue for me to stress about.

No, the buses do not have seat belts. The Magical Express coaches do not have seat belts. Nor do the boats or the monorail. Most large public transportation conveyances do not have or need seat belts.

If your preference is to have the children restrained, you will need a car.

We are very strict about car seat use for our 5 yr old and honestly didn't stress all that much about no restraints at Disney..There are no belts on ANY Disney transportation and on some nights leaving the parks, me,DH and my 5 yr old had to STAND on the Bus back to the resort...If it stresses you that much , than I agree with PP ...you need a car

The parking lot trams don't have seatbelts either, so you would need to get to the parks early enough so that you can walk to the park from the parking lot.

Also, unless you are staying at the Contemporary, there is no way to avoid the monorail or the Ferry to get to Magic Kingdom.

Please keep in mind that, buses, monorails, ferries, and other large modes of transportation are very different than cars.

Disney buses are incredibly safe. The worst case scenario would be if you had to stand on the bus..that can be an issue for some with little ones. But you can always wait for the next bus and get on first, thereby getting a seat for the kids.
I am a nut about seatbelt use...we never ride in a car unless the seatbelts are fastened. But I don't worry at all when in WDW. Buses are very safe.
But, if it's going to stress you out, then you may be better off renting a car. But as someone already mentioned, the trams, boats, and monorails don't have seat belts either.
