Question about booking with FL residents

My mom and I were considering taking my kids and my brother's girls to WDW this summer. The girls live in Florida, so I was wondering if we'd be able to book rooms under a FL resident discount (if one came out, of course). If so, what type of proof would we use to establish their residency?

You can book one room per adult Florida resident. So if these girls are still minors, a room discount cannot be used under their name (since they would not legally be able to book a room). If they are adults, the room would need to be under one of their names and they would need to be present at check in to prove their residency.

As of January 1, 2010, to establish Florida residency (by getting a FL ID or license), you must bring proof of identity, social security number, and residential address.

The pp nailed it right on the head. As a local I can tell you they WILL check the ID too. I always order our tickets online and pick them up at the gate and they've always checked our ID, so I wouldn't chance it.

I completely agree. DH and I lived in Florida for a year and would go to Disney for a night here and there or just hit a park for a day...and yes, they most definitely did check for IDs!

Thanks all, that's sort of what I thought (that the discount was only for adult residents), but I figured it'd be a shame to not ask and then miss a discount.

And for the record, I wasn't trying to get away with anything! I was a FL resident for most of my life, so I know that it's not something you can try to fake or slip past. I just figured since the girls ARE Florida residents, they might qualify for the resident room discounts. (And since they're not adults, they don't have the normal FL resident ID, so that's why I was asking what you could use for kids, if it was possible.)
