Our first contract closing documents have been sent back so we have to wait for the deed to be recorded and then for the points to load - from what I understand reading the DVC boards. My question is, our home resort will be BW. Will be have any trouble getting a preferred view 2 bedroom for late Aug. at this point in time since we are under the 11 month window? Also, we have a second contract closing in Jan. so we won't have those points until end of Jan. If we book a 5 night stay for Aug. with the contract we are closing on and then decide to add another night what are the chances that we will be able to do this in Feb. Also, we were told by the DVC member from our resort meeting that if we booked a 2 bedroom and then as people left during the week, we would be able to lock the connecting door and change to a 1 bedroom without any problem and they would adjust the points. Has anyone ever done this - not sure if he was correct or not. I'm assuming we would have to do this before the trip - as soon as we knew everyone's travel plans. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you will have a problem getting late August before 7 months, you should be able to get it in late January that would be right around 7 months. Might be pool/garden view, standard & boardwalk views go first.

Being able to downgrade a 2 bedroom lockoff is questionable. It used to be a definite no but some have reported success recently.

We tried to do the reverse (studio to 2bd) and didn't work out. We had 2 separate reservations and hope they'd give us the same room. I've never heard of anyone booking a 2bd and downgrading it to 1b there! Even if they did this, your extra points would technically go into holding.

I was not allowed to downgrade from a 2 to a 1 at BWV last summer and this was around the 7 month window.. I had to cancel and rebook. However, there have been so e recently who were told you could so I say it is a hit or miss rule. Technically, I don't think they allow it but because BWV is all lock offs maybe they are a bit more flexible.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help. We are looking for a preferred view so that wouldn't be a problem. The agent that did our tour said that we would be allowed to go from a 2 to a 1 because BW is all lock offs. Not sure if he was telling the truth or not. Hopefully we will know travel schedules better when we get the points around the end of this month and can make the reservations accordingly.
