I was wondering how many rooms (villas) each of the resorts have.

Thanks

EDIT:

Given info provided below:
Here is my next question.

Have any of you tried booking a vacation and couldn't go because all of the DVC resorts were booked up?

these are not official numbers, but based on my notes from info posted by Shamus on 01-20-2003 07:47 PM and Terry S on 01-24-2003 10:15 AM. i also made some changes based on info from the Multi-Site POS dated 8/2002:

(Due to lockoff units which can be split into two rooms, you need to keep in mind that the # of units does not equal the # of possible rooms.)

VWL - 20 Dedicated Studios - 27 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 44 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 45 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 136 Units / 181 Max. Available Rooms

BWV - 96 Dedicated Studios (17 Standard / 79 Preferred) - 127 Dedicated 1Bdrm (26 Standard / 101 Preferred) - 0 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 145 Lockoffs (36 Standard / 109 Preferred) - 7 Grand Villas (All Preferred) = 375 Units / 520 Max. Available Rooms (29 are HC Accessible)

OKW - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 274 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 226 Lockoffs - 27 Grand Villas = 531 Units / 761 Max. Available Rooms (these #s don't add up, but are exact figures from the POS)

HHI - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 76 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 21 Lockoffs - 5 Grand Villas = 102 Units / 123 Max. Available Rooms

VB - 0 Dedicated Studios - 0 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 18 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 36 Lockoffs - 6 Grand Villas - 111 Inn Rooms = 175 Units / 208 Max. Available Rooms

BCV - 36 Dedicated Studios - 20 Dedicated 1Bdrm - 78 Dedicated 2Bdrm - 74 Lockoffs - 0 Grand Villas = 208 Units / 282 Max. Available Rooms (29 are HC Accessible)

enjoy!

So out of the 60k to 70k members only approx 2000 of them will actually be able to get a room on those short holidays and during the summer only about 24,000 of them will actually be able to get a room during the summer months.

That is assuming everyone that goes stays for a full week which is probably rare so those numbers should be inflated a little.

Anyway, I don't care to much about that as we always go in the off season anyway.

Here is my next question.

Have any of you tried booking a vacation and couldn't go because all of the resorts were booked up?

The answer to your second question is no for us. We usually book between 11 and 7 months out, so we are still in our home resort only window. I was even able to add a day last minute(and a holiday at that) when the airline was on strike, and we had to adjust our schedule.

As for most staying a week. I would assume that is somewhat true. Most folks look at timeshares a week long committment. Many of us stay longer than a week though. We usually have one week long trip and one longer one of around 10-11 days.

Wow, I love Disney but I don't know if my feet could handle 10 days.

I would need more points anyway. We just bought into SSR last month and was wondering what to expect when it comes to booking.

Only once we had to shift a vacation by one day for an April school vacation. Any other time, we got what we wanted.

We had no problem getting an OKW 2 bedroom for 4 nights last July (45 days out) and no problem getting a BWV studio (PV) for 3 nights this August. Both of these ressies included partial weekend use/points. So we haven't actually stayed longer than 4 nights straight at a DVC resort. We're planning 4 nights in an OKW 2 bedroom next (early) November. I plan to call at 11 months out just to be safe because of Food & Wine. I know BWV and BCV will most likely be the desired resorts during this time period, but I'm not taking any chances.
I wonder when the best chances for getting shut-out of any DVC resort are, aside from the obvious December holiday time and maybe Thanksgiving & Easter week ?

I can definitely handle 10 days ! We've done 14 days on two occassions ! Loved it.....:bounce:

We've been members for about 2 years now and haven't had a problem booking what we want. We booked our home resort (Hilton Head) 11 months out because we usually travel during a holiday week because of my son's school schedule. We have stayed at OKW (during a holiday) booked about 6 months out and this past August in a studio at OKW booked about 5 months out. I don't anticipate not getting a reservation for the dates my family needs. During our holiday trip at OKW, we did have to waitlist and that worked out great. I figure if nothing else, I'll always book a trip at the 11 month window at Hilton Head and then if we decide we want a change, we'll see what's available at the 7 month window. When we stay on property, we're not really particular about which resort we get although OKW is our family favorite and has the lowest points so we usually try to stay there first.

We just came back from a trip in September that was booked 37 days out.... I was only able to book a 1 bedroom (pref) at BWV and waitlisted for a 2 bedroom at VWL, BCV, and BWV. Less than a week later, the 2 bedroom at VWL came thru.

Now, we could have booked a 2 bedroom right away at OKW.... but wanted to stay at a different resort for this particular trip, and would have been happy with the 1 bedroom orignally booked, but were thrilled with our 2bedroom at VWL. (our first time there, and our second to last choice for this trip.... but we are now VWL converts! LOL)

So, our one experieince with booking last minute was a good one.

But I do reccomend booking as early as you can.... :-)

Thanks for the info everyone.

Someone did have a good question up there somewhere though.

Does disney count a deed with two owners as 1 member or 2 in their 70k count?

If they count both as seperate members that would actually cut that number WAY down.

I guess that is something else for me to ask Scott.

Thanks again.

I asked this question last month and was told that the deed is counted as one membership regardless how many names are on it. I also asked about owning multiple contracts and was told that we are still counted as one member total.

I'm sure there could be permutations where someone could be counted twice, but DVC is making an attempt to count only unique memberships in the total number of members.
