Question about booking 2 rooms

We've decided to do 2 rooms at ASMo for our next trip. There will be 6 of us, 2 adults & 4 kids. I want to request a room with the door connecting them. I want to make sure I make the right request....connecting is the rooms having a door in between & adjoining is just beside/close to each other, right?
If I book packages, will they be considered 2 seperate packages, requiring 2 $200 deposits?
Last, & kind of a silly question but I have wondered....for tipping mousekeeping when you have 2 rooms, do you leave the same amount in each room, say $5? Or do you still do it per person, per room? Like, $2 in one room & $3 in the other?

yes and yes lol

Yes- you want to request connecting, not adjoining

Yes, it's two separate reservations so two deposits.

the tipping thing is your personal choice- I think most people leave the amount based on the number of people = amount of mess. But it's up to you.

you are right connecting rooms has the door between. just make sure you also call one week before to check they still have this request. we once had it change on us what a mess.

tipping the maid depnds on you if you like what she does and it should be for each room.\have a wonderful time

Also you need to keep in mind that connecting rooms are not guaranteed ;)

They always try their best to honor your request but there is a possibility of when you get there you could have to split up with one adult in each room, as evidenced by posts from other DISers who were disappointed at check in.

Maybe a slim chance that could happen to you, but it's one of those things that is better to know about ahead of time KWIM? :cutie:

Also don't know if you have considered a Family Suite, but those would be only one deposit. :thumbsup2

BTW here's a model of the new AoA ones for anyone interested who hasn't seen them yet:

I did look at the family suites. I'd be more interested in the ones at ASMu as each of the older boys would have a seperate bed. Also, AoA is a lot more expensive for the week, like $400 more than 2 rooms at ASMo or the suite at ASMu! I was a bit shocked, lol.

I know connecting isn't guarenteed but I *think* I'll take my chances. Each older boy would get their own, full bed. That would be nice, especially for my 15 (will be 16) yr old. & my 2 (will be 3!) yr old would love a chance to stay in the Toy Story buildings.
