Question about bedding for young kids?

The search function is not working... sorry to repeat a question that probably has been anwered many times.

My question is about a cabin for 4 with two young children - one would be almost 3 and one 5 years old. Assuming they are too young for the pull down bunk, what are the options? I know the couch is one of the beds. If the almost 3 fits in the crib that would be one option. What kind of cribs do they use on the Magic? And if the crib is too small, is there an option to have both kids sleep closer to the floor and not use the pull down bunk?

thank you!!

I believe the cribs available on the cruise are pack-and-plays.

We were on a 3 night Wonder cruise last June with DD who was almost 3 at the time and DS who was 4 1/2. The plan was that DS would sleep in the top bunk and DD would sleep on the sofa that converts to a bed. As it worked out, they slept in the top bunk together and it worked very well for us. Although we didn't use them, my understanding is that the cabin steward can bring extra bed rails if desired. We just put extra pillows at the foot and end of the bunk.

There is a decent amount of floor space in between the sofa and desk area (if you move the coffee table to one side) if that is what you prefer.

We found the bunks (both top and bottom) to be big enough for my kids to share.

Good luck and HTH!

they use pack n plays for cribs on the boat. Sailed with DD who was not quite 3 in January, and she fit fine. Theoretically speaking, once your cabin steward "makes up" the beds, you can put the kids wherever you want to. Assuming by your post that you don't want to put your 5 year old in the bunk, you could put both kids on the fold out sofa....one head at 1 end, and 1 head at the other. You'd have to re-configure the blankets yourself, but that's a possibility. I don't think that I personally would put my child on the floor though. They're pretty clean there, but might be better to explore other options first.

They don't have a crib, it's a Greco playpen. You might try where one child lays on one end of the couch and the other on the other side. You'll probably have the beds in the larger size. (one big bed instead of two twins) Have the younger sleep with you. Or have the beds in twins with one of the kids sleeping in one and the adult sleeping in the top bunk.

I dont think the oldest will be too young for the top bunk. My then 3 1/2 yo slept there and that was the highlight of the trip for him. ;) There is a rail on it and DS didnt have any problem. In fact when we got home and it was time for Grandma & Pop to buy him a new bed for his birthday, he chose a loft bed ..."Like on the Disney Boat".
I would think the 5 yo should be fine up there.

My vote would be either have both kids sleep on the couch bed (at opposite ends) or have the little one sleep with you.

I should add that my kids were so tired by bedtime that they would have slept on a bed of rocks w/o complaining. My noramlly toss and turn child didn't even mess up the blankets at night on the cruise.

I would try to put them both in the lower bed....it is not recommended for a child under the age of 6 to be in any type of bunk bed.

I do not think you will have a problem with bedding. As another poster said, by the time they come in for nap or night they are really tired. My daughter had her 6yo on the top bunk and 3 yo on the bottom bunk and it worked out fine. If you are not comfortable with that, there is plenty room to have them both on the bottom, as it is plenty wide when opened and they furnish rails. If you choose the Graco playpack, they will remove coffee table between the dresser and couch making just enough room for the playpack. It will be tight, but they can fold it up during the day. Hope you have a wonderful trip. :)
