I was wondering if I make a reservation at the 11 month window with a combo of banked, borrowed and current UY points at my home resort (e.g., a Savannah View 2Br) and then switch at the 7 month mark to another DVC that requires less points, what happens to my points?

I assume that I will still have to use my banked and borrowed points, so can I then bank the residual amount of my then current UY points?

Yes, and at the end of the phone call, be sure that the CM did use whatever banked/borrowed points that could be used. I check!

Your assumption is correct.

Once banked or borrowed, points must remain in the use year into which they were banked or borrowed.

The points from the current use year that are released from the vacation, however, can be banked. However, there are two restrictions:

  • The date you change the reservation must be more than 30 days from the check-in date of the vacation. (These points are considered a cancellation. Cancellations done 30 or less days from check-in are subject to the restrictions of points in holding. This is something to be very careful of when going on a wait list.)
  • The date you change the reservation must be within the first eight months of the use year in which the vacation falls. (Banking cannot be performed in the last four months of a use year.)
