Question about banked points

I have to bank by July 31 to bank 100%.
My work schedule for next year comes out in June.
No problem so far.
The question is: if we bank now and go back home in March, 2003, will we be able to use the banked points, or will we have to borrow from 2003?
Will it matter when we make the ressies (i.e. July 2002 vs. Jan 2003)?
I guess what I'm trying to ask in way too many words is that if I bank now and book next month, can I book with the banked points. (Finally put it in English).

Remember that the points are used for the time of the stay, not the time you make your reservation.

To bank by July 31st I think that means you have a February use year so you would be banking Feb 2002 - Jan 2003 points into Feb 2003 - Jan 2004. If you want to make a reservation for March 2003 you would be using your points that have been banked into 2003. If you wanted to make a reservation for a stay before February 2003 you would need to borrow your 2003 points, they will not let you use your banked points for the original use year once you bank them.. Clear as mud?

Hello!
I have 300 pts at BCV with a February use year. Since we were supposed to be going in June (before BCV opened), I banked all of my points.
Now since my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer, we cancelled since we weren't sure how things would turn out.
Now we know that it was caught in the earliest stage and he'll be fine after his treatment.

So am I reading right that I can borrow points for a stay in say August of this year??? I thought all hope was lost for a trip this year! We cancelled out AKL reservations and used the money for other things thinking we weren't going. What a double blessing if it turns out to be true since my Dad was a little down about missing out on the trip and we wouldn't need the $6000 we were going to spend before!

Also I think he'll finally see the benefit of my joining the DVC, I couldn't explain it to him any other way!!

Tiggersgirl. Yes, you can borrow your 2003 points into 2002 for your August 2002 stay. The 2002 points have to stay in 2003. Also, don't forget that the 2002 points you banked into 2003 have to be used in 2003 and can not be banked again (this shouldn't be too hard to do)

I am glad to hear your Dad is doing well. I hope you can get your reservation for August. If there isn't availibility, try the waitlist, I hear it is working because it is a new resort and they open up inventory as members purchase.

Yes, you may borrow from your 2003 use year for a trip in Aug 2002.

Once made, those points cannot be moved back to the 2003 use year and will need to be used by Jan 31, 2003.

Just wanted to say I'm glad your dad is doing well. Also, as Terry said waitlist is a good way to go if all your desired days are not available when you first call.
Last week we decided to squeeze in another trip this year in December and had to wait list our first nite for BCV. It came through this week. Yay!

I wasn't sure about joining the DVC since I don't have any kids of my own and I've never traveled much, but since coming to this forum, I'm gaining more and more confidence each day!
