Do you like to eat bacon crisp or chewy? I hate to order bacon and it comes out half cooked and chewy. Especially if it is added to a sandwich. From prior food threads on the DIS I am aware that there are definitely regional differences so I wonder if some parts of the country actually prefers it chewy.

Crisp. When ordering in a restaurant, I usually ask that they cook my bacon "crispy, but not burnt". If I don't add the "...but not burnt" part it might be overdone. There is a sweet spot with bacon where it is nice and crisp but not dried out or burnt.

I like it crisp. My DH likes it burnt. My parents like it limp! One DS liked it limp but now crisp and my other ds has decided he doesn't like bacon:confused3

I think this is just preference and not a regional "thang"!

crispy crispy crispy, just shy of burnt is the best.

Crispy.

My Dh like's it on the limp side (ewww...). Actually, it IS healthier cooked this way. Crisp bacon exacerbates the cancerous effects of the nitrates used to cure most bacon. I don't care. Bacon MUST be crisp.

I don't eat it very often...maybe once a month, if that.

I like bacon thick cut and soft, though I honestly don't think it's a regional preference, it's a personal one.

When I was growing up the bacon at our house was never cooked crispy so I would always peel off the crispy meaty parts and leave the fat to be thrown away. My mom would always fuss with me and forbid me to eat it if I was going to waste it. I never knew it could be cooked any other way until I was an adult. Now I only cook it crispy.

Form the replies here I think restaurants are just being lazy in not serving it well cooked. Most people like it crisp. I guess I will have to get in the habit of asking for it that way.

We all like our bacon crisp, except for DD#1, who specifically orders hers BURNT. She always repeats "Not crispy, BURNT. Thank you." At least she says thank you.

My wife demands hers to be thin and crispy.. As long as it begins with Ba and ends in con I'm happy :) but I do love a thick cut chewy bacon..

As long as it is cooked, I don't care if bacon is crispy or soft. Bacon is bacon.
Sort of like the eggs that are often paired with bacon. Scrambled, fried, over easy, poached, hard boiled. Makes no difference.

I don't think it is regional....personal preference.
I like it just barely crisp, DH likes it barely cooked and DD likes it as close to burnt as possible.

I dunno, I think I like it somewhere in between. Not limp but not completely crispy either.

Thick cut, not crispy but not limp- more like chewy. Yum, bacon... :thumbsup2
