Question about back-to-back cruises

We've done this 3 times now. Once (2008) we were back on in no time. The other 2 times we had a bit of a wait but were allowed on first, before boarding began.

Yup. We waited for about 45 minutes in the empty terminal and then when the ship clears they let you in before everyone else. When you get on the ship there is literally no guest around. You have to wait for things to open so we waited in the cafe.

The only time we did it, we were off the ship around 9:30 and had to wait around in the terminal first for them to close out the last cruise so we couldn't check in until about 9:45 or so. Then they had us wait in the concierge lounge until around 10:30 when we boarded. We were boarded before they let anyone else into the terminal.

If you change cabins, your steward will move your luggage.

You will need to stay away from the cabin area while they are doing room turnover (cleaning for next cruise). Guests not being in the hallway means they don’t have to slow down and step aside for us to pass (because they would).

Nope. And we had the same room so we didn't pack anything. We just took a small day bag with my passport, boarding information, iPad, iPhone and my purse. You still have to go through customs but you tell them that you're reboarding and they just wave you through. We waited until pretty much the last people were off, so there was no line.

Is the boarding photographer set up with the (hopefully) tight turnaround?

We just did a back to back on the Magic out of New Orleans. We were quickly through immigration and check in. Then we waited about 30-45 minutes while they readied the ship. We then boarded and went to the cove cafe where they gave us complimentary coffees and tea. Cabanas opened at noon and by then the early boarding groups were on the ship This was our second back to back and we will do more in the future

Oh I didn’t know about Cove Cafe. I just walked around an almost empty ship taking pictures with no one in it. And then went to a lovely quiet pool.

Although we did wait a long time in Fathoms, I would definitely do an other B2B as well.

I thought the boarding photographer just got ready when we boarded. Didn’t pay much attention to it as I didn’t purchase any pictures this time, but I did hear someone say ‘do we need another picture’ as we boarded.

And if you have main dining, you have to wait extra long while others are having breakfast. I waited in the Soul Cat Lounge as recommended by my waiter. Unless perhaps you go to Cabanas for breakfast, but I always try to be out of the room in time and go to the early breakfast out of respect for the cast.

We are looking at doing a Back to back in Europe. I see most people getting back on the ship without much delay.
Is it possible to do the opposite? Get off early and go touring for the day before getting back on around 2:30-3?

We have done this in Barcelona a few times prior to covid. We just checked in for the second cruise once we arrived back at the terminal after sight seeing.

If you are staying in the same room talk to your steward. You can get back into your room early, just don’t let anyone see you sneak under the rope (but do let stewards know who see you!). Not much is open when you get back on, we even had to wait for pools. Do bring all of your important paperwork!
