Question about B2B cruises

I have a B2B booked on the Dream for August of 2022. I am curious if I can add someone to the first cruise and NOT have them do the second cruise. If yes, how would that work? They would disembark and go off on their merry way while the rest of us disembarked and then reboarded?

Considering adding my mother to our first cruise so she can experience a Disney cruise basically.

Your B2B cruise is actually two separate cruises (and you check in again at the start of the 2nd cruise with the documentation for that cruise) so it is not a problem to have somebody on the first cruise who doesn’t return for the 2nd cruise.

The only B2B cruise I did was a long, long time ago on NCL (a 2-night cruise to nowhere on my birthday, and then a 7-night Bermuda cruise), and back then, they allowed us to keep all of our luggage onboard since we had the same stateroom on both cruises. Does DCL allow that if you have the same stateroom?

Yes, as long as it’s the same cabin for both cruises.

Or joins for the 2nd cruise who wasn't on the first.

The only things to consider:
If you're are doing back-to-back, you don't want to leave the cruise terminal and you want to follow the path and instruction for B2Bers, otherwise you'll have to re-clear security and go through the standard boarding process (so you'll want to say your good byes as you're exiting the ship).

Similarly, if someone is joining you on the 2nd cruise, you'll want to decide if they just meet you onboard when they're finally able to board or if you want to exit and hang out in the terminal for a few hours until general boarding.

My wife and I did a B2B (Quebec --> NYC repositioning, NYC --> Bermuda). One of our daughters and her family joined us for the 2nd cruise. We just waited in the cruise terminal until they arrived and did normal check in with them.

Actually, DCL allows you to keep your luggage onboard even if you are changing stateroom for the second leg. Your stateroom host will coordinate with the new stateroom host (assuming that’s a different person) to move your luggage from the first stateroom to the second. Unfortunately, you will have to pack up the non-hanging items, but they can usually move hanging clothes on the hangers.

I have done a B2B on the Dream a few years ago with the same people on both legs. For the Wish next year, my son is joining me for the first part and I am staying around to do the B2B (same cabin). It is nice to hear other experiences with a change in parties I will say my goodbyes before we leave the ship and send him on his way via DCL transportation to MCO. I had planned on doing this but happy to have confirmation.
