Question about availability in January

We just bought into DVC through resale and are currently waiting for ROFR. If all goes well, we will be able to make reservations by the middle to end of September. I am wondering how difficult it will be to book our vacation in January 2011. We would like to stay in a studio for weekend nights and 1 BR for weekday nights, but can be flexible. We are hoping to stay for 10-12 nights and don't mind moving 2-3 times during our stay. In fact, we plan to move to try different resorts. We would like to stay at some of the following resorts: AKV, BWV, BLT, VWL, and/or BCV. Any thoughts?? :confused3Waiting is so hard!

I think as long as you are flexible as to locations and room type you'll be OK, but MLK weekend will be quite "iffy" as will the first week of January, until school resumes.

One of the best parts about owning DVC is that if you can't get all the locations you want for this January, you can try to get them for your next DVC vacation! :cool1:
Once you're in the system, you'll have up to 7 months' to reserve non-home resorts, and that 11 months' time frame for your home DVC! :thumbsup2

If you are flexible with changing rooms/resorts you should be able to get something.

GOOD LUCK and welcome home.

And you will probably soon learn that split stays are not all they are cracked up to be. It could be a really negative experience.

I'm sure that can be the case, especially if you do not have a car. We went this summer for 16 nights and switched a lot...1 night BCV 2 BR, 2 nights OKW studio, 10 nights offsite condo 2 BR, 1 night BCV studio, 2 nights AKV studio-SV. This was a little much, but we were doing our research to be sure we wanted to buy. We actually liked seeing the different resorts. However, I would like to stay at each for a minimum of 3 days and may only switch twice.

If it helps any we always go MLK week and usually stay at OKW. Last year we were the only ones in our building for the first three nights of our trip. There seemed to be a lot of open rooms. We also stayed at BLT the least couple of days of that trip and there were really not many people there at all. So to answer your question as long as you are willing to be flexiable where you stay you should be able to get your entire week at one location. The only exceptions would be BWV or BCV since it seems that those two resorts fill up very quickly. If you are there MLK week we may pass each other.

I just booked BCV for late January (studio) with no problem. The cast member said that she was surprised at its availability. There were studios at SSR and DAKV as well available. So...maybe not so bad of a chance. :)

We just may pass each other if our plans work out! Waiting is so hard, but it was worth going resale to save $6,000+. I cannot wait to be a member and set up our first trip home!
