Ok, I'm losing soooooo slooowly, I've just got to speed things along a bit by changing my diet to hopefully give my metabolism a boost as I am on the last 13 pounds and making the scale budge is taking a lot of effort (which I am willing to give), and alot of time (which I am not so happy to be giving). My question is I want to do induction to help loose the flabby fatty and I have printed out the induction allowed foods from the Atkin's website, but how many carbs are allowed per day, and if I go slowly back to having carbs in reasonable amounts will I gain it all back, because if I do then these will not be tears of joy

::yes:: Wanting help in the Atkins way!::yes::

Follow these tips for speeding up Atkins:

Make sure you're not taking in any caffeine.

Drink 64 oz. of water a day. If you do drink a caffeinated beverage, add in more water - double the amount of the beverage. So, if you have a 10 oz. coffee, an additional 20 oz. of water should be added. Yeah, I know - you'll be in the potty all day, lol.

Analyze what you eat. If you're taking in more fat than protein, try to cut back. You'll lose a little more when sticking to the leaner meats and protein choices. Even though the diet states that calories don't count, if you're eating nearly 0 carb but 4000 calories (think lots of whipped cream, lol) you're still not going to lose.

WALK briskly. Walking definitely helps.

Many people have reported a slow-down if they use the atkins bars. If that's the case, stay away. I used to notice a slow-down with them when I used them. Now, if I have them, it's as a total meal replacement and not as an addition.

Best of luck!

Thanks Baileymouse! I am already running because it burns the calories and is over quickly enough that I don't lose interest (40 minutes plus), also I have a 10k coming up July 4th that I am running so I need to keep training. Thanks for the water info, I have really been incouraging myself lately to drink, drink, drink. I don't plan to use Atkins bars untill induction is well past, but the info on the calories was just what I needed, I wondered about the idea of eating some of the meats listed on Atkins induction plan liberally (now I'm off to fitday to see where I will be calorie wise). Great advice, any more tips you think of will be greatly appreciated. ::yes::

watch what you are drinking.....aspartame is not good on Atkins....splenda only.....most diet drinks, gums, sugar free candies contain aspartame instead of splenda and will slow weight loss.

Caffeine will hinder your loss too.

Be careful how much of the carb related items you are consuming *you need some carbs* like lettuce, tomatoes, onions etc you are eating they are very limited in the beginning..

Recently when re induction began for me I wasnt losing anything then I realized I was drinking lots and lots of Crystal light and as soon as I switched that over to water with lemon I dropped two pounds.

Also watch for hidden sugars in some spices, seasonings and condiments.

good luck!

Ok, I have worked out a menu to the best of my abilities. My family doesn't eat red meat or pork so my protein choices are limited to eggs, chicken, turkey, and fish. I am begining induction today and so far using fitday my breakdown works out to....
1268 calories
13 carbs (2%)
56 grams of fat (40%)(this seems really high but it's mostly coming from my protein and then some for the 2 ounces of cheese)
181 grams protein (58%)

Is the fat content too high?

Thanks ahead of time for the warning about aspartame, I didn't like artifically sweetened drinks anyway but I may try some of the splenda sweetened drinks after induction since it is derived from real sugar lol .

Also, on the rules of induction it says that I can have Mayonnaise, yet I dont' see this on the acceptable foods list, any experience? I have to admit I would love to have just a tiny bit on my tuna, but if it's not allowed, then I won't.
