We've never considered getting APs because we usually only go once a year or every other year. But, we're about to head to WDW for 7 nights/8 days and are thinking we may squeeze in another trip for 5 days/4nights at Christmas. Seems like an AP is the smartest way to go since we usually go to the parks every day. Are APs only available through Disney? Do any discount places carry the APs? Any help is appreciated for this AP newbie!

TIA

APs are only sold through Disney. The only discounts are for FL residents and military.

I have read the analysis on wdwig.com and the breakeven point is 8-9 days. As far as I know there are no discounts available on AP's. Some Disney Stores sell them (I will be purchasing mine for our upcoming vacation there). You will receive a voucher and you get your passes at guest relations and they are activated at that time. Just make sure to check that your dates are from activation and not purchase. You will receive some great discounts by having an AP. Check out WDWIG.COM for all the latest info. Have a great trip. :sunny:

by getting double or triple points by purchasing with Disney Visa when they are running that promotion. Don't know how many Disney Rewards that would equate to, but its better than nothing!

Thanks for the information. We don't have a local DS, so I guess we'll just wait and purchase them when we get there. I do have a Disney Visa - it would be great to get double or triple points. If anyone knows if that is going on now - please post and let me know.

If you're not staying that long, the AP is a good buy if your room savings are more than the cost of the AP. I am saving over $600 on our room rate using the AP. Minus the cost of the AP, say about $400, I'm still ahead over $200, and more with the other discounts.
