Question about APs/PAPs

Ok. I'm confused. I am attempting to find out whether or not it is cheaper to buy a AP/PAP and a hotel or to buy a 7 Day Pass with Park Hopping and a Hotel.

See, here's my dilemma. Me, my mom, and my girlfriend are going to Disney World on short notice. Its a spur of the moment thing. We have three weeks to plan it. Fortunately, I have a lot of time off to do this.

Anyhoo. I put together a package on WDW's site and it came out to be 1,577.21 for 3 Adult with 7 Day Passes with Park Hopping staying at Pop Cent for 6 nights. I may add Magic Plus for the water parks. Not decided. Insurance is not being chosen. Nor is the No Expiration, unless we get there and it shows signs of a lot of rain and bad weather.

Second idea I have is: Buy 1 AP/PAP and two 7 Day Passes with Park Hopper. Then book Pop Cent for 6 Nights for 3 adults. Use the discount from the AP to reduce the cost of the hotel - and use the discounts from the AP on everything else. However, I do not see how you can get the discounts to apply online, so I have no idea how much this will really save me.

Third Idea is : Buy 2 APs with one 7 Day Pass with Park Hopper. Then book Pop Cent for 6 Nights for 3 adults. This came out to be around 1,950.00 or so. However, because I do not know how much the discount from the AP will be, I cannot tell if it really is worth buying the AP or not.

Something else I am looking at is this : I hear that renewing the AP is cheaper than buying it, so if we plan to go next year, the cost will be less overall. However, I am on a budger for this trip.

Now, as far as travelling goes, we live in New Orleans and are going to make the 10 hour drive the night before to arrive on the 1st.

As for food, we will eat at the hotel. And utilize snacks, sandwiches, etc. and the occassional counter meal during our stay. We will dine off-site if we choose. We're good at eating cheaply when we need to.

Please help me find out which is the best option to go with. I need to know more how the AP discounts work, and when they are applied, so that I can accurately calculate which route will be the best to take.

Thanks in advance,
Doyle

Your best bet is to go to the ticket section on AllEarsNet. If you look on the left side, you will see links for Annual Passes, Annual Pass Breakeven Analysis (both under Ticket Information", and Annual Pass Discounts (under Mini-izing Costs). This will probably answer all of your questions, and then some.
