A friend of our family who owns DVC was telling me that she gets the FLA AP and not just the AP. So if you own DVC, you qualify for the FLA pass?

No. Being a DVC member does not qualify anyone for any Florida passes. The discount on the AP is actually better than the price of the Fla one.
