Question about Amish Friendship Bread

My son's class is passing around starter for Amish Friendship Bread. It was our turn to have it over the holiday break. We really liked it but I don't want to be baking it every 10 day. Does anyone know if it's possible to freeze the starter to use later? I would think not as it might kill the cultures but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks!
