Aladdin is, quite frankly, the best Disney park musical show I've ever seen. About the only difference between it and a Broadway musical is the length (50 minutes vs. 2-3 hoursa) and lack of an orchestra. Otherwise, it's that spectacular. My mother doesn't care for the story of Aladdin, so she doesn't much like the Disney movie either. But she quite enjoyed the Aladdin musical.
The Genie is hysterical and laces all kinds of current events, Disney jokes, and pop culture into his lines. A couple of my favorites:
At the end of the Disney movie, the Genie announces he's going to
Disneyland after Aladdin frees him. In the musical during the same scene he once declared "I'm going to cross the street."
"Noboby likes rats, but Ratatouille won best animated feature so that was cool."
And when chasing Iago off the stage at the end: "You're not even good enough for the Enchanted Tiki Room, you tiki bird reject."
So, don't skip this if you're not sure about watching a Disney stage show because this is far superior to any park stage show. Now if your kid won't fare well during the show, that's another matter. It does make for a nice break though as you're sitting down for a long time.
