Since the AKL is closed and therefore the concierge lounge is also closed, does this have an effect on the AKV points chart at all? Since the CL points are basically inflated to cover the amenities of the lounge and not a special room or location, without the access to the lounge, there is no reason for anyone to book a CL room at AKV. With the AKL being closed for the forseeable future, is there ANY reason why they should even allow CL bookings? I mean, technically, they have to, right? The rooms are available, but the service is not....how does this work? IIRC, the concierge offering had to be included in the points chart because it was part of the hotel side in the first place. If the hotel is going to be closed for an extended period of time, will they need to adjust the points charts and remove those 5 2BR's from the inventory? I'm just curious how this all works...it seems like a mess...

DVC cannot really change the points required. Point charts are determined on a calendar-year basis, annually a year in advance, e.g., we now have charts through end of 2021, so first opportunity for a change is the 2022 charts that will be issued likely near the end of this year.

Moreover, if any changes are made, total points for the resort for the year need to remain the same, meaning any decreases have to be met by equal increases elsewhere during the year. That process and rules thus prevent lowering AKV club level points for a limited time due to the Covid issues. The same applies to all rooms, i.e., no rooms anywhere have had point requirements lowered on a temporary basis to reflect more limited services (such as the closing of some the pools) that might occur during this Covid time.

The following is currently posted on the resort detail page and booking page for AKV Jambo House:
Kilimanjaro Club Concierge rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House are available for booking. Note that Club Level Amenities, services, and Cast Members are not currently available. A date has not been determined when those amenities will reopen. Should these amenities remain unavailable during your stay, you will be refunded the vacation point difference between the room type booked and the comparable Standard View room after check-out.

To add, from reports I have seen, many guests have been moved to a different room, including some being upgraded from a studio to 1 bedroom.

I think they continue to allow the booking because then when it does come back, guests will already be set.
