Has anyone stayed in one of the Deluxe Savannah View Bunk Bed rooms at AKL and how are they? I will be traveling in with 5 people for my next disney trip and am considering staying at this resort. I hear this is a fabolous resort and am lookin forward to staying there.

We stayed at AKL in Sept. Had booked standard room (ie. parking lot), and were upgraded to a deluxe savanah w/bunk beds.

Honestly, I'm really glad that I didn't pay for the upgrade. The room itself was very small. It was a connecting so I don't know if the door ate up most of the space. We were a party of 5 and it was much to cramped for our 2 night stay. We had tons more room in our CAT 4 stateroom on the cruise!

Not crazy about the bunk beds, and wouldn't do that again.

Sorry to sound like a downer, the view was GREAT! Service, everything else was great...but it's just not the best accomidations for our family.

We stayed in a standard (parking lot view) room last March. The room was very small and we were a party of 3. Our 7 year old enjoyed the bunk beds though. The resort is lovely but may not be the best option for a party of five.

Are only the Deluxe rooms to accomadate 5??? Did you book a standard room for your party of five Karen? :confused3

I ask because we are going to Akl in August with another family. They have 5 in their family and I have told them they will have to book Deluxe....Am I wrong?

Hi. I am going with my wife and three kids (5, 4 and 2) in December 2005. We are staying in a regular savannah room.

I know when you go to disneyworld's web site, they do not give a party of five the option to stay in a savannah room. It only gives the option of a deluxe savannah or concierge. It could be that they allowed my family the regular savannah room because our youngest is less than three. At any rate, I would definitely call a Disneyworld rep to find out for sure.

We booked a standard parking lot room. Two of our 3 kids are under the age of 3, so I don't think they really "count" in Disney's mind (one was in a PNP)

We stayed there March 2004 and the rooms are tiny. We are a family of 6 and had a room with queen bed and bunkbeds........our youngest are twins and they slept in PNP together.

We are planning another trip in January and have a ressie at AKL again, but I am looking for an inexpensive other option. All of the other deluxes are so much more $!

The resort itself is BEAUTIFUL, although the lighting in the hallways and in the rooms seemed to be lacking. It was very dark.

My understanding is that the deluxe bunk bed savannah rooms are larger than the standard rooms. I think I read that on the WDW web site, not sure.

We have had Deluxe Savannah view rooms for our last 2 trips. In June there were 5 of us, me, DH, DS-21, DD-16 and DD's boyfriend-16. DS slept in the day bad and DD and DBF slept in the bunk beds. We thought the room was big enough for the 5 of us. We do not usually spend a lot of time in the room, but it was fine for us.

DD and I stayed at the AKL, both in a standard room with 2 queen beds and in a deluxe room with bunk beds. We love it there. The room layouts were similiar with the deluxe room being deeper and having a sofa/futon. I'd say the bunk beds are great for kids. I also loved that the bathroom vanity had lots of surface area. I think a single room anywhere would be pretty crowded for 5 people.

Here are some room sizes from the AllEars site for comparison purposes:

314 square feet - room at POFQ
344 square feet - standard room at AKL
381 square feet - deluxe room at AKL
390 square feet - room at Boardwalk
409 square feet - room at Polynesian
