Hi. We are going to Disney World in December. We want to take our son to one of the character meals, but I need information on how to make an advance reservation. I have read about them on the boards, but am still a little confused...do you pay a fee when you make the reservation? Also, which one would be best for a just turned 3 year old? He likes Mickey and Pooh. Thanks for your help.

Call 407-WDW-DINE and tell the CM that you want to make an ADR (or three). I can't recommend which character dining your son would like, but I know the one at Chef Mickey's has, well, Mickey! That aside, I'm not really too familiar. Crystal Palace has all of the characters from Winnie the Pooh. Cinderella's Royal Table has the princesses. To make an ADR, you do not pay a fee. The only thing that you might be required to do is to make a credit card deposit for certain meals. The Cinderella's character breakfast and lunch is in very high demand, and requires a credit card deposit, but most of them don't. The deposit is then applied to your bill, so you don't actually pay extra. Hope this helps.

:Welcome to the DIS!

We just got back, ds was one week shy of turning two on our trip.

He loved the characters. Wasnt too impressed with the princesses though :rotfl: We did breakfast at the castle princess breakfast(Cinderellas Royal Table), he wasnt too impressed :teeth: Oh, well that one was more for me anyway!

We thought Chef Mickey's was awesome. Ds LOVED the character interation (Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy, Donald Duck). If you dont mind leaving the parks, IMHO this one was the best. It is in the Contemporary resort, just a short monorail ride away from MK. We did it the night we did AK, as it generally closes about 5, so we had our adr at Chef Mickeys at 5, and didnt really 'miss' any park time.

We also did Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends (Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore,Pooh) Crystal Palace is more conveniently located, near the end of main street in the MK. If you dont want to take the time to leave the parks, it may be a better option for you.

DS loved both. I felt like the characters were less rushed at Chef Mickeys than at Crystal Palace, but the service at both was great and ds enjoyed them both.

You do not have to pay for an ADR, but you DO NEED THEM!!!!!!! I would call very soon and schedule your meal, we did ours at the 90 day mark.

We took DS3 to a bunch of character meals (thanks, free dining!) at the end of September. Our favorites were Chef Mickey's and Garden Grill. Both had great character interaction. GG had much better food (though fewer choices - check the menus at www.allearsnet.com) but CM has a better atmosphere. We were disappointed in the character interaction at Crystal Palace - it was by far the worst - though the food was still good!

Thank you all for being so helpful. I am going to call this weekend and make the reservations. We are going to definately go to Chef Mickeys and perhaps we will go to Crystal Palace as well. I think I may try to get the ADR for Chef Mickeys for the day that we are attending MVMCP. I just can't wait to go!!
