We are going to MK Halloween (yay!) and have tickets for the party that evening. Planning on rope drop and then we have CP at 11:30. I was thinking we would just do QS for dinner but now since I am reading how places close early and lines can be long, I was thinking we would take a break for a 5:20 reservation at Grand Floridian Cafe and then head back to the party. Any opinions on this plan? We have free dining and had an extra TS to schedule any way but I am definitely open to all feedback as we have never done the party before... Thank you! :wizard:

5:20 doesn't seem too bad, especially since GFC isn't a character meal so you shouldn't be there too long. Hopping on the monorail after and MK being the first stop, you should have plenty of time to get there at 7pm when the party starts. On our MVMCP night, I was able to get BOG for dinner so I made the adr for 4:30pm so we don't have to rush and won't miss any party time. If you have the extra TS credit, I'd do it! GFC is wonderful!

Great! I was hoping that 5:20 wouldn't be cutting it to close! Thank you so much!

We also are going on Halloween! First time we've been to the party. I originally had a 5:00 dinner at the Wave but changed it to a 3:10 late lunch at The Plaza (nothing later available and paying OOP). Not sure if we'll keep Plaza or not - we plan on staying till closing and that's a long time at MK for us, so may switch back to something a bit later at Wave.

I personally wouldn't leave after 4 or do a dinner that day. You paid for the extra magic of Halloween. Don't cut it short. I would break earlier and get a 2:00 table service at a resort and be back and in costume for 4:00. Just my opinion.

Typically a TS dinner takes about 60 minutes so you should be back in the MK around 7:00, but both times we've eaten at the GFC it was very slow service so it's possible you won't be back in time for the official start of the party. Also, if you are planning to meet any of the rare characters (e.g. the 7 dwarfs or Jack and Sally), the lines start between 5:30 - 6:00 to avoid wasting valuable party time in a meet and greet line.

Yeah I understand about the cutting into the party time and I don't really want to do that either. I am torn because I love being there for rope drop and the advantages of that but 9 am to midnight is too long for my family. I was hoping this would help break it up a bit. I don't think the rare characters are a priority for us so if we get there (worst case) around 7:30 or so will we be at a disadvantage and miss out on things? I really don't know a whole lot about the party so input is so appreciated!

You have more stamina than me! I love a nap before the party, then I can stay til the end.

We usually do a ts lunch, then rest and head to MK at 4, cs and enjoy the party!
